I have not once met a closeted Christian, and neither have you.

Not since Prohibition have so many Americans wanted to commit the same crime at once

I get that a lot of people don’t like to read, which encourages reliance on ChatGPT and TikTok - but “aversion to reading” has been an issue for basically forever, and I believe that instead of just giving up, we should still be strongly encouraging people to read, because it’s good for society

This photo of Kate Bush is SOMETHING ELSE

Group photo 📸 More rats! Now less sketchy. And a marten, because you know. Martens. It’s been a fun piece.

Scientists first collected a pig butt worm from the dark ocean depths near Monterey, California. The size of marbles, pigbutts are a near complete mystery. Officially described in 2007, scientists aren’t even sure if the pigbutt form is an adult, or just a very very awkward adolescent stage.

A bald eagle flipped me the bird today. How rude… #birding #birds

Here is a list of the Greatest eBird Checklists in the US: www.audubon.org/magazine/the... Marky Mutchler, who is on the list above, was a guest on our pod last year to discuss Limpkins. You can check out our interview with Marky here: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/3... #ebird #birds #limpkin

It's worth reiterating - Microsoft's own research indicates that use of generative AI degrades critical thinking skills and erodes confidence in unassisted decision making.

I’m seeing a lot of soft takes from industry mutuals at the moment that we shouldn’t be so hard on those who use generative AI because it’s becoming harder and harder to resist. Wrong. Betraying your ethics (and your peers) because ‘everyone else is doing it’ does not suddenly make it acceptable.

You can tell some of these guys have been playing football for years

apropos of nothing: aqualung goes crazy

Just a reminder #furry

I saw this weirdly out-of-season common grackle (Quiscalus quiscula) today at Presqu’ile in Ontario. #birds #birding

Some cool #birds I saw today: 1: northern cardinal 2: trumpeter swan 3: greater scaup 4: common merganser

Me: “Oh no, my house is on fire! But there’s no water around! How will the firefighters put out the fire?” The ever reliable fire hydrant:

it's been on my mind again lately so just reminding y'all too - whether it's about your body, your art, how you spend your time, anything - comparison can and will kill your joy. Just be.

Sometimes I will see a child and for a split second my brain is like “that is the smallest man I have ever seen wtf???”

Rolls Royce sounds like Scooby Doo trying to say something

let's gather around the campfire and sing our campfire song

“The Knocking, or The Story of the Sound That Preceded Their Disappearance” by Doldrum is the folklore-inspired black metal concept album about being abducted by subterranean entities I didn’t know I needed. Would recommend.

It would be an incredibly stupid bioweapon. It only spreads through insects which the vast majority of people aren’t exposed to, it takes weeks for symptoms to show, half the time you get an absolutely diagnostic rash, and it can be treated with cheap antibiotics.

OpenAI says it has proof that Deepseek used its work without permission to create something meant to undermine and destroy its product. On behalf of all the authors whose novels and stories were taken as training data, oh no that must be so hard for you.

Winter season ❄️

To my cis followers, please call out transphobia when you see it and support the trans people in your life. Don’t make bigots feel entitled to share hatred by being a bystander and not speaking up.

An interesting note about the jba fofi of the Congo is that they're described as having purple markings on their abdomen. Young jba fofis also have a yellow colored body. (ignore the chef hat)

I am not a fan of dust jackets. It often feels inelegant to hold a book with a dust jacket. Not to mention that a book without its dust jacket looks more aesthetically-pleasing, in my opinion at least.

This is my favorite picture of Stonewall. They knew they were getting arrested just for being LGBTQ+. Yet... they're still here, standing outside of the boarded up Stonewall Inn, smiling as the world was at a fever pitch of hatred against them. I think about it a lot in moments like this.

This woodpecker is really going through it #birds

GenAI has polluted image search results, especially for animal pics. It’s now basically impossible to find accurate art references. Enter this: a repository of open-access, AI-free images of wild & exotic taxa. Artists creating *without AI* have blanket permission for derivative/transformative use.

You’re trying to goad me into a fight but it’s too late for that I’m afraid, mentally I’m at a 1960 baseball game in Osaka
