Scientists first collected a pig butt worm from the dark ocean depths near Monterey, California. The size of marbles, pigbutts are a near complete mystery. Officially described in 2007, scientists aren’t even sure if the pigbutt form is an adult, or just a very very awkward adolescent stage.

It would be an incredibly stupid bioweapon. It only spreads through insects which the vast majority of people aren’t exposed to, it takes weeks for symptoms to show, half the time you get an absolutely diagnostic rash, and it can be treated with cheap antibiotics.

I am not a fan of dust jackets. It often feels inelegant to hold a book with a dust jacket. Not to mention that a book without its dust jacket looks more aesthetically-pleasing, in my opinion at least.

This is my favorite picture of Stonewall. They knew they were getting arrested just for being LGBTQ+. Yet... they're still here, standing outside of the boarded up Stonewall Inn, smiling as the world was at a fever pitch of hatred against them. I think about it a lot in moments like this.
