It would be *unconstitutional* for Zelensky to call for an election before the war for Ukraine is over. https://united24media.com/latest-news/kellogg-ukraines-constitution-prohibits-elections-during-war-but-they-should-be-held-when-possible-5679

Say it louder for the (many, many) folks in the back who think that the most reasonable way to respond to blatant racism is by accepting the twisted terms of the debate & insisting that their behavior is justified per those ahistorical, illogical, empirically unsound terms (“we uphold meritocracy!”)

I was at a punk show in 83 where a skinhead jumped up on stage and gave a Nazi salute. The bass player hit him with his bass, knocking him into the crowd and 150 people collectively hauled his ass out of the venue and threw him in the mud. This was the right and only appropriate response.

Right! I don't really follow football besides helmet appreciation (Cincinnati) and noting which players' names make a full sentence (Jalen Hurts). But I remember Chris Kluwe now! Good for him.

Now the question is will he (and others like him) make the next step into realizing that they have no business acumen. With enough money you don't need to be good at budgeting and you don't need business acumen.

Browsing randomly years ago, I came across this French propaganda poster from WWI. My first thought was Gandalf.... And that scene in Lord of the Rings took on more weight.....

There are two people in Congress-the chairs of the Senate & House Appropriations Committees-who have enormous power over the illegal impoundment of funds appropriated by Congress, which is sowing chaos across the US. They need to be relentlessly contacted at their offices, in person and by phone. 1/

Major news! A court in Montana has just declared SB458, a bill that "defines sex" in a way that ends the legal recognition of transgender people in Montana, as facially unconstitutional. This is the first time a bill defining sex has been ruled on! Huge win for trans people in MT!

On Friday I ran this interview with Amy Booth. A day later Milei's outed for pimping a crypto grift & now there are calls to impeach him (link below) Coincidence? Gosh, knowing history and reading are so fundamental. How many times have I reflected on this poem not knowing its full context?

"The sheep like the shade, plus the solar panels increase grass yield and protect sheep from predators," said Pearce. Meanwhile, Pearce revealed farmers and shepherds reap their own set of benefits, as "sheep eliminate the need for herbicides or costly grass cutting on the solar farms."

This. When you contact GOP MoCs, phrase things in terms they care about--accountability for what they approve & constituencies they value. w/Tillis, for example, never stop emphasizing that he is singlehandedly responsible for putting a wildly disqualified person in charge of NC's servicemembers.

Fascinating profile of a park ranger in San Francisco who works with unhoused residents and has adopted the novel tactic of treating them like human beings, building relationships, and helping them access resources on their own timeline.

Taber updates! I'm officially Pivoting to Video(TM). Why: between bird flu, grocery prices, trade wars, deportations, and more, people NEED good info on food & farms. What's the best way to get that info in front of people who need it? Video.

There is always something you can do to gum up the works of fascism. A story. Claude Cahun. The queer nonbinary French-Jewish photographer. Nazis conquered France, were training soldiers on Jersey, where Cahun lived w/their partner, Marcel Moore. They did disinfo & morale smashing via Surrealism.

Now may also be a good time to remind you Donald Trump is going to have 3 million queers from around the world on his front lawn this June whether he likes it or not worldpridedc.org

There was once a time, not so long ago, when true alpha males would just free-hand their criticality experiments. Before the brass at Los Alamos went woke and mandated that all experiments had to be done by "remote operation" and "with proper oversight." Was it risky? Sure — but REAL men LOVE risks.

Today on Volts: Austin, an island of blue in the red sea of Texas, has its own municipal utility, with highly ambitious decarbonization goals. I talk with two Austin Energy execs about their clean-energy strategies, the role of gas, political pressures from state gov't, and more.

We've reached a point where I am entirely convinced that the obsequious little shitasses that constitute the Republican senate would happily vote in the affirmative if Donald Trump were to nominate Godzilla to be his special envoy to Tokyo.
