Absolutely shameful and disgusting, but luckily, the election of Obama proved racism is dead. Justice Roberts codified the end of racism by throwing away the umbrella in Shelby. Has anyone else noticed it seems to be pouring and flooding is widespread?

It is absurd that the obvious rollbacks of civil rights, started under Nixon and now occurring at breakneck speed, are somehow mysterious. A key area of inquiry should be the educational system which tends to elide at best and totally distort at worst the history around race in the U.S.

It's extremely simple unless your aim is to be willfully ignorant. He's a fucking nazi from a fucking nazi family. His citizenship, obtained under shady circumstances, needs to be revoked and he deported. All public contracts with him should be cancelled.

It is somewhat amazing to see one of the country's two major political parties completely in service of our longest running adversary. There is no question the seeping Russian ties have rotted the structure of the GOP and it needs to be demolished and rebuilt.

This is the moment you've been waiting for "3%-ers" and other militias! The government is ignoring the constitution and turning the Armed Forces into their personal police force! Wondertwin powers, Activate! Etc..Hello? Oh, you don't mind that now? Weird...

The underlying question will be whether or not this changes people's votes.

Yes and who could have predicted re-electing a racist rapist felon would have resulted in these non-merited cabinet and department heads whose sole qualification is immense obsequence to him.
comment in response to post
The one on the right is highly qualified. The one on the left will need a presidential waiver to serve as chair of the joint chiefs. That waiver is for essentially an emergency situation. The rapist racist felon's crime spree continues unabated.

I assume these orders came directly from Putin. The ideals that founded our nation are taking an absolute beating thanks to the ignorance of 77+ million voters.

That fleet of planes carrying condoms to Hamas apparently is going to hit Alabama.

"People from jails" like violent insurrectionists who brutally attack police? Yup, sounds like Biden's fault.

The U.S. has the death penalty so I guess we must not have a drug problem. He solved another problem instantly!
comment in response to post
If they have no drug problem, where are they finding these drug dealers to execute? Hmmm, 'tis a conundrum.

I like your optimism but 77 million voters forgot 1/6 and the 4 years leading up to it less than 4 years later.

Anyone still using that site should be well aware of what they're getting into at this point.

No - zero independence. They were allowed to perform meaningless "no" votes to ensure they could use that to fool their voters yet again.
comment in response to post
The only GOP "no" votes that would have stopped a nominee = zero. Don't be taken in by the duplicitous "no" votes since they were only done when there was no chance to stop the nominee. This is perfectly evidenced by Mitch's "yes" on Patel today. Now that would have been a "no" that mattered.

Uh, you mean the serial philanderer whose wife publicly and violently dumped him one Thanksgiving? He had self-respect?

In front of the Capitol, Garcia should burn that letter with a group of Dem congress members.

They're also millionaires who can afford personal security if they're so afraid.
comment in response to post
Respectfully disagree. This is exactly the kind of show-pony nonsense the GOP loves to engage in. Again, rather than see a complex plan where pressure was applied to Mitch forcing him to change his vote, the simpler and far more plausible explanation is he would never be the deciding 'no'.
comment in response to post
I can't control your perceptions but I don't mean to be demeaning. I'm older than you (hint: my bluesky id includes birth year) and I've seen more than enough of McConnell to feel comfortable with my conclusion. Let me know when a GOP vote actually stops a nominee - I don't think you'll see one.
comment in response to post
To be fair, the FBI targeted people breaking the law. There is no evidence I'm aware of that their political ideology had anything to do with their law-breaking.
comment in response to post
That's not being cynical - it's being oblivious to McConnell's entire political career.
comment in response to post
Again, this assumes that McConnell had to be dissuaded from a principled no vote by threats. There is no reason to give him that benefit of doubt. This vote was in perfect alignment with his career. It's MUCH more likely he wouldn't have voted no on the others if the no had been a deciding vote.

I'd argue it's essentially the same in the U.S. Many future NHLers do not finish high school at the local level as they're playing for hockey teams all over the country before they get to University level and often finish high school remotely with tutors. Academics are far down the priority list.
comment in response to post
Ok - you claim one part of your post is accurate but even that is debatable. It is a 4 Nations final. It was the NHL's attempt to bring more viewers mid-season than a pointless all-star game. I'd say it succeeded but it's really not worth arguing about.
comment in response to post
I think his yes vote on Patel had more to do with Vance being away and unable to break a tie. This highlights the fact that his previous "no" votes were in no way an indicator that Mitch suddenly discovered a moral compass. This yes vote is far more in line with his entire disgusting career.

Those nightmare scenarios are playing out, Justice Sotomayor!
comment in response to post
This makes zero sense. The governor's reaction to Adams' corruption is to legislate gubernatorial oversight of every NYC mayor moving forward? This is an clear cut individual case that should/needs to be dealt with on an individual basis.
comment in response to post
Hah! That doesn't automatically make them more educated. They're at schools on hockey scholarships and essentially and substantially major in hockey.
comment in response to post
Yeah, it is primarily filled with white middle to upper middle class "christians".
comment in response to post
Inaccurate. Canada is the nation most represented in the NHL. Canada's dominance in international hockey tournaments has long caused tension with the U.S. born players. Those two teams genuinely dislike each other and have long before the felon was on the political scene.
comment in response to post
On the other hand, given the economic policies and priorites of the felon, no one may have much left in discretionary funds soon enough.

I guess a fair question but the reality is it wouldn't have mattered unless it was McConnell plus one more. The reality is the GOP has either gone full nazi or full Chamberlain. The responsibilty lies with those who vote for them time and time again.

We can only hope to get the same reaction if we go forward in time 10 years.
