I'm no great fan of David Brooks, but yesterday's column was satisfying to read. "Stupidity has all the answers!"

"Does Rory really think his duties to his own children are the same as his duties to a stranger who lives thousands of miles away?" I believe Jesus said something about that. Can't remember. Hmmm. What could have been?

We need a presidential candidate who can say something gobsmacking every day without, you know, saying anything bad. Got one of those?

Over the last 45 years, 50 trillion dollars have been ripped from the middle and lower classes and handed to the top .1%. How about we talk about cancelling school breakfast and lunch programs right after we get the 50 trillion back?

I think you mean "...with the small fraction of the public that's paying attention and gets accurate information...".

All the new phones have to compete with previous models, which are already paid for and just as good.

The people who were pardoned shouldn't be asked to carry this load for the rest of us. At best, being attacked by the new administration would mean financial ruin. Any confidence we may have had in the federal judiciary seems unjustified now in light of recent events.

This is about capitalism's insatiable need for growth, nothing else. We all know the planet would be better off with fewer people on it, and there's a reliable, humane way to achieve that: educate women (and don't deprive them of their rights).

For me, it's something like Asshat. It varies. This won't happen, because it would be a giant blue state, or, better yet, many blue states, in which case the Senate would be in dem control for decades.

If this happens, it will inevitably involve mountains of US tax dollars being hauled away by corporations, the Stimson Doctrine in action.

That makes sense.

Sorry, this doesn't make sense. Of course many PDs need to be reformed, but that has nothing to do with how much money FDs and PDs need for their respective missions.

Thank you for reminding me that I have one billionth of the power a billionaire has. I will treasure it. Not a personal dig, I just think you don't really have a point here.

Simply put, "no dissent".

No, I don't think so. This one seems reasonably coherent, though clearly wrong-headed. There are better examples of his intellectual bankruptcy elsewhere.

If you don't like ST, just go to bed an hour earlier. Why do we always have to do the stupid thing?
