That's because Ford's ultimate goal is federal politics... so as soon as P is gone, guess who will sweep in like a vulture?

What's been your experience in creating trust that wasn't there before?

Is there any truth, however partial, in what the other person is saying? That small thread of truth can be a bridge to dialogue. Crossing that bridge fosters trust between opposing perspectives—trust that may not have existed before.

The point is not to tolerate every opinion, but to choose how we communicate with respect and understanding—even when we strongly disagree or find a viewpoint deeply objectionable.

This response is rooted in the way our brains have evolved to protect us from perceived threats. The key to managing difficult conversations is maintaining peace and equanimity while preventing the slide into anger. What's been your experience with difficult conversations?

Pick one of the challenges from above, or choose your own. Then ask, "How have I evolved into a better person as a result of this challenge?" "How does this affect the way I work with other people?" "How can I teach or share this skill with others?"

True leadership is about standing for what is right, ethical, and compassionate. It’s about building communities that value equity, dignity, and freedom for all.

The erosion of democracy in the U.S., attacks on trans people, and rising fear within the LGBTQ+ community are not abstract issues—they are daily, frightening realities.

After all, why argue if we aren’t striving for the same ultimate goal, albeit from different perspectives? Adapted from my article, “Radical Humility: An Antidote to Arrogance and Self-Importance." www.darrenstehle.com/radical-humi...

Social media worsens this challenge, enabling attacks, straw-man arguments, and arrogance. Instead, we must build trust and understanding by finding middle ground. Only in the middle — where opposing sides meet — can we discover what truly connects us.

We must also confront our ego-driven need to be self-righteous about political tribes or ideologies. This mindset perpetuates division and, unchecked, leads to systemic oppression and violence.

Trump’s continued support stems from insecurity, arrogance, and poor critical thinking — a fertile ground for populism. To counter this, we need Human-Hearted Leadership, cultivated by the practices and principles of humility, compassion, non-contention, flexibility, impartiality, and commonality.

Figures like Donald Trump and Elon Musk exemplify this deficit. Trump’s rise was facilitated by self-centred, arrogant individuals and reflects a broader erosion of democratic values. Today, the U.S. teeters as an unstable democracy, increasingly controlled by oligarchs.

In “The Tao of Leadership,” John Heider writes: > “All these behaviors come from insecurity. They feed insecurity. None of them help the work. None contribute to the leader’s health… When you think you are so good, what are you comparing yourself with? God? Or your own insecurities?”
