JD Vance literally broke the Ohio State CFP National Trophy in front of the entire team at the White House event. This is an Omen that is already being fulfilled for the nation.

Yes Liz. Do it. This'll be the comedy event of the summer.

On the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, we thought we'd answer a question that's often asked, "If they raised the Mary Rose, why not raise the Titanic?" Allow our scaled diagram to explain...

MIT following Harvard's lead here

“The Trump administration has said it is freezing more than $2bn (£1.5bn) in federal funds for Harvard University, hours after the elite college rejected a list of demands from the White House” Universities must fight to maintain their independence. www.bbc.com/news/art...

1/4. On the White House’s theory, if they abduct you, get you on a helicopter, get to international waters, shoot you in the head, and drop your corpse into the ocean, that is legal, because it is the conduct of foreign affairs.

Remember in Ron Burgundy, the competing news crews are all on site, trying to get footage of the polar bear cub? Now, we have competing crews in Birmingham wanting footage of bin bags and "squeaky blinders"

Re-reading the Harvard response letter and love this British style ‘unfortunate’: “It is unfortunate, then, that your letter disregards Harvard's efforts and instead presents demands that, in contravention of the First Amendment, invade university freedoms long recognized by the Supreme Court.”

Bone chilling. A court ordered Kilmar Abrego Garcia to stay in the United States. The Supreme Court ruled 9-0 that he was illegally removed. Trump is pretending he won the ruling 9-0. 1/ You may not think this case means anything to you. But let me tell you why it does.

Your regular reminder that almost everything Trump is getting away with is not because of presidential strength, but because of congressional weakness and judicial deference. The constitutional tools are already there to fix this, but those who can fix it are refusing to do so.

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

“Now That Trump Is President, He Can Remind America That Christ Is King”. By Heritage Foundation president Kevin Roberts & William Wolfe (co-editor of the “Statement on Christian Nationalism” manifesto & former fellow of Russ Vought’s organization). 4/14/25 1/ www.dailysignal.com/2025/04/14/n...

The history of every major Galactic civilization passes through three distinct and recognizable phases SURVIVAL is characterized by the question: How do we eat? INQUIRY by the question: What do we eat? SOPHISTICATION by the question: Where shall we have lunch?

This seems…troubling. “What we are clearly seeing is that with this administration, they are not responding to congressional inquiries.” @nicolefoy.bsky.social

NEW: European Commission issues staff with burner phones & basic laptops for US trips, to avoid espionage. [FT] How far the US has fallen under Trump. The EU adopting a measure normally reserved for China. The US is now a security risk to its (former) allies.

🧵DISMANTLING DEMOCRACY I've been keeping track of Trump actions - now up to 192. Here, I dig into 69 actions specifically targeted at undermining democracy, rule of law & suppressing dissent. It's been 12 weeks of assaults on democracy. based on christinapagel.substack.com/p/a-republic... 1/18

Exactly right. There's a reason why the legislative process is meant to be slow: you get better laws when people can scrutinise bills, ask questions, move amendments & have time to reconsider. In those rare cases when immediate action is needed, there should be substantial post-legislative scrutiny

MPs should be instinctively wary about one-day bills. An unhappy recent history:

Exiling people beyond the protection of US law without due process is not only unconstitutional, it's a rejection of the entire American revolutionary project. Sending people "beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences" is one of the grievances enumerated in the Declaration of Independence.

Seems pretty clear that doge is a total scam
