Engineer with the emotional intelligence of a bag of hammers: Plagiarism machine, are you going to become self-aware and kill us all? Plagiarism machine copy-pasting every sci-fi novel from the last 100 years: beep boop destroy kill destroy Engineer: Oh no

i don’t think i’ve ever missed alt text *because* of this setting. alt text is easy, fun, polite, necessary, &—critically in the age of “govt openly enthusiastic about eugenics & ending accessibility initiatives”—the right thing to do, especially if you’re on bluesky to inform or drive action.

Mark your calendars, the next Indie Book Sale is April 5th-7th.

“Leftists being more polite and less mean would win over well adjusted liberals“ is such a tell that all liberals value is their own comfort

“I insist on being shocked. I am never going to become immune. I think that’s a kind of failure to see so much of it that you die inside. I want to be surprised and shocked every time.” ― Toni Morrison

when I say "I started writing a new book" I really mean I've thought up a singular interesting scene playing out to a specific song that I am currently fleshing out in great detail in hopes this thing called "a plot" emerges from the veiled fog of my vague daydreams

Physical therapist says my muscles are underpaid and overworked. Same, guys, same.

They are just disappearing people off the street. Having a hard time thinking about literally anything else.

It’s a good day to become a nuisance to your elected representatives

The Warhammer 40k subreddit dedicated to the subfaction of blood-soaked superhuman berserkers is going zero tolerance on homophobic and transphobic commenters, because Khorne cares not from whence the blood flows.

BREAKING: Yuval Abraham, co-director of Oscar-winning documentary "No Other Land," says Israeli settlers beat his co-director Hamdan Ballal, injuring his head and stomach — and then Israeli soldiers invaded the ambulance he was in and seized him. Ballal's whereabouts are now unknown.

Thank you so much to everyone who called in to the #NVLeg this morning in support of SB171 and spoke about the importance of protecting providers of gender affirming care here in NV! If you haven't yet, sign on to NELIS and go to "Public Opinions" to let legislators know you support this shield law

Okay it may seem bad that Meta appropriated the entirety of the written word without compensating or even consulting with any writers, but consider what the world got out of it: a thing you accidentally tap in Instagram

Okay, this is my newest very very favorite meme.

“Look,” Hapworth continued. “It’s not like I adopted ALL the animals they had. I didn’t take that Guinea pig.” “Poor little guy,” she added. “I should probably go back for him.”

A lot of my fellow authors are freaking out after learning more about the conduct of Meta (and other AI). I'm one of the authors who has been involved in suits against Meta and OpenAI since 2023. Authors who'd like to know more about the cases and the latest updates, see llmlitigation.com/index.html

Artists feel pressured to make new art too quickly at the moment. Normalise artists fucking disappearing for months. Just walk off into the woods for a year and come back with a single sketch. It’s good for you

Must read: Mahmoud Khalil speaks out for the first time since his arrest by the Trump administration in an exclusive letter, dictated over the phone to his family, from ICE detention in Louisiana.

BREAKING: A court overturned Ohio's ban on gender-affirming care for transgender youth. This is a critical victory for trans rights.

Happy birthday to Irish artist Harry Clarke, born #onthisday in Dublin in 1889 (on #StPatricksDay no less). Here he is in a self-portrait as an absinthe drinking Mephistopheles from Goethe's Faust. More in our essay "Harry Clarke’s Looking Glass" - publicdomainreview.org/essay/harry-... #OTD

I have (my first!) nonfiction in here about struggling with undiagnosed autism. While I did eventually get a formal diagnosis, I wrote the piece right after I was denied an eval referral due to how "well-adjusted" I seem. Thank you @coinoppress.bsky.social for giving me the chance to share the vent.

Knowing that Meta was so desperate to make this book by a Facebook insider disappear that they got a court injunction barring the author from promoting it makes it essential #weekendreading for me and apparently a lot of other folks, as it has shot to the top of the charts. #booksky #freespeech

Come meet up with fellow library lovers this Sunday, 3/16, at 3PM at Coffee N' Comics, Sparks, on the corner of Baring Blvd and Sparks Blvd. Freedom To Read will have information about how to get involved in library advocacy. Having a spine is such a design flaw wtf

Google joins the call to gut our legal protections, pushing for a world where Big Tech gets to profit from all your innovations & works for free, and that theft is ok’d by law. No joke IF they get this, the US will likely face irreparable harm as pivotal creative economies crash.

Can’t emphasize this enough: if you’re feeling overwhelmed by the debased assault on our country, the antidote is connecting with other people in the flesh who are feeling the same way. There are millions of us.

Mad that she's in the cone again but not mad enough to sit somewhere besides my lap

“It never comes up with an unexpected idea” being a positive quality to these losers tells you everything you need to know about how they view the arts
