It'd be nice if this administration could take a single day off from being so infuriatingly grotesque

Made it to the weekend? Stock up on curated romance and spicy reads from indie authors today on Kobo Plus! 📚🌶️ koboplusromancebinge.com www.kobo.com/us/en/p/kobo...

First I laughed at this inaccurately "good" sleep score by my fitness ring. Then I realized my sleep in this hellish month is so bad this is considered good for me It's not good. My car's transmission died and on this level of sleep, it felt like getting punched in the face. Still picking myself up

Taxes done

This has been the longest month in the longest year. And that was before I had to spend a solid 8 hours itemizing business expenses. Writing full-time has entirely transformed filing my taxes At least now I have my bookkeeping set up. Posting this as a reminder to never fall behind on it again

The first 3 Primal Regression audiobooks are now out in all stores including Audible, Spotify, Google, LibroFM, & Apple! And Kobo Plus! The first is featured on Indie Audiobook Deals right now, along with these lovely other featured Kobo Plus audiobooks by talented authors indieaudiobookdeals.com

"But liking a post doesn't do anything on Bluesky" Yes, it does. It encourages the person who posted to keep posting. It makes them feel seen. It shows appreciation, solidarity, or interest. It appeals to a human being, not an algorithm. Best of all, it doesn't cost anything to like a Bluesky post

In writing deadline mode. Took a break, burned some popcorn, and still stubbornly ate it while catching up on news I never knew burnt popcorn + the day's news could pair so damn well Crawling back into my writing hole like Punxsutawney Phil

One writing research tool I love that Google has somehow not shuttered yet (knock on wood) is Google Earth There's nothing like researching a story scene location to an obsessive, entirely unnecessary degree But when that globe starts spinning it's still so cool

*finally looks away from writing to check the news* If you watched Scrubs you can hear this gif. I hear it all the time And it works on multiple levels with the current news cycle

A year ago I'd get so nervous over the few unsubscribes when I sent out my (very infrequent) newsletters Once you get over a few thousand subscribers, that perspective changes. Especially when you realize that decent newsletter software charges by subscriber count 😳

The Onion summer writing fellowship is seeking applicants! It's six months, good salary and benefits. This year's applicants do NOT have to complete the Eating Challenge, as it turns out this does not adhere to Illinois labor law. We apologize to those who have died in the past.

I've been struggling with low energy writing this week (I have POTS), so I was surprised to see Claiming His Friend's Daughter hit Top 5 in Free on Google Play with no promo?! What a pleasant surprise. Definitely cheered me up. Maybe grab a 🌶️📚 short romance freebie!

Oh dear 😳

After many auditions, a few tears, and a ton of work by some talented narrators, The Investor along with all released short romance titles in the Primal Regression series will be out on audiobook soon to all stores. Thrilled to be able to release this many of my titles in the span of a few months!

Okay, I'm back from the brink and (mostly) caught up on admin tasks Vastly underestimated the needed quantity of chocolate. I'm still at zero beer, unfortunately

The longer you're an indie author, the more your time will be consumed with marketing, accounting, etc until you're successful enough to delegate it Some days there isn't enough chocolate or beer (the chocolate is gone and why is there zero beer) for any of it

Last chance, folks. Support your favorite indie authors, and scoop up some discounted reads for the weekend.

Outlining Me: Add Book 5's MMC to Book 6 as a supporting character! Continuity is fun! Developmental Me: Make him the antagonist Book 6 of Primal Regression is almost here. It completes the setup for the coming spin-off series: Primal Regression: Aftermath.

The Smashwords Read an Ebook Week sale is here through March 8th. Support your favorite authors! I've set most of my back catalog to 50% off 🌶️📚💙 www.smashwords.com/shelves/promos (Made this last night, seems I was in alignment with the original marketing team. 😅 You can use my alt-text for both)!

Me: Oh, a calming nature video. Just what I need right-- *spits tea*

After listening to so many talented auditions, I'm thrilled to announce The Investor is in audiobook production! (It's also on sale for $0.99 in stores 😉) 📚🌶️ An age gap dark romance novella, with a morally grey MMC. My tech industry cynicism also crept into this one... books2read.com/u/mgeZ97

If my dishwasher was going to die, of course it would do so after I've managed to cram every dish into it late at night while utterly exhausted

*Spends 30 minutes catching up on news* ...right. That's enough of that

I keep saving Pomodoro sprints just for writing, but I need to run them for every task to get those needed breaks. For cover design, marketing, website updates, audiobook narration reviews, all of it Otherwise I end up in this chair for 10 hours with almost no breaks

Exactly how I feel after these 10-12 hour days I've been pulling for all the writerly things. Can I just slide to bed

😳

The Demon's Obsession (Book 2) was published mid-December. I set out to write a light dystopian PNR short romance series, but it's getting uncomfortably real 😔 While writing Book 3, I've had to step back and consider curving the plot a little further from current reality 🌶️📚 amzn.to/41wigHn

*curls into fetal position from direct hit* alt-text: a crude drawing of a horse where only one sliver of its front is drawn in photo-realistic detail. The detailed part is "the one specific scene I came up with" vs the rest of the crude drawing ("building a whole story around it")

My new writing avoidance anxiety symptom is hyper-attentive reading of news and Wikipedia articles The amount of detail I'm absorbing from words written by anyone else but me is both impressive and dumb

I'm actually annoyed how easily ideas flow when I'm on a long drive 20 minutes into driving, and I've worked through a plot hole I couldn't fix for days while pacing around my house

The comments on this are feral and I'm here for it

Ooohh noooo

I thought I'd go out another way, like from sleep deprivation or something. Nope, this is definitely how I'm going to die

Yo authors we need more interviews to stuff in the gaping maw of our blog. If you have a new (or old) book to feature, click the link and reach a respectably sized audience! nightbeatseu.ca/author-inter...

My hobbies now include listening to audio samples while trying not to shrivel up and die of embarrassment at hearing my own words spoken in my ear by a complete stranger

Listening to audiobook narrator auditions 😳

"We need the good stuff to combat the bad stuff. Doesn't matter if the art is escapist counterweight or an arrow in the eye of fascism -- we need it, we need it all, and we need it now. It's not trivial. It's a fucking life preserver." The always-excellent Chuck Wendig with the timely message.
