My approach has been to mute or block most of the big names- b/millionaires, politicians, professional instigators, celebrities, etc.- and companies I come across here. I’m here for the people.

BEAUTIFUL interview 🖤 Thank you for facilitating it.

Thank you so much for speaking to her, that is heartbreaking. And while the answer to her last question is a big no, the theme (as you know, obviously) of the last 5 years has specifically been pushing disabled ppl out of public spaces, so seems like that answer is yes or idc to a lot of people 😞

4/ The nature of Borikén already influenced my art before moving here, and now it is able to influence it directly. All of the flora and fauna in my work are based on species here and across the Caribbean. The colors of the island seep into my work. Even the sounds of the island have an impact.

3/ When I first visited in 2009, I felt like my DNA was completed, like I was in the right place. And I now get to wake up and feel that same feeling every day. And that I’m safe, far away from abusive people who have harmed me.

2/ After the initial “wtf” (perfectly captured in this video!), my cats are the happiest I’ve ever seen them.

find joy and beauty. Otherwise the struggle to survive isn’t worth it. But we’re reduced to “well disability has become your identity” at best and to the bitter crip at worst by people who would really benefit from the wisdom and experience we have.

Omg that clip 😭 And exactly. It’s yet another space where listening to disabled ppl is so valuable. How can I possibly find any beauty in this moment? Bc our lives have fallen apart over and over again, our anger and grief and the attacks on our lives is a normal constant, yet we always manage to

My job now? Stay alive out of spite & give people a place to rest their eyes inbtwn the shit. If we all blast politics, our feeds are nothing but that & we are communicating that things that are worth living for aren't actually valuable. Why save any of this if there is no art (etc.) in the end?

Yep. I put my anger on display on social media with every rollback and removal of covid mitigations and accessibility progress from 2021-2023, to silence or hostility. I don't need to be angry on main, I'm angry enough irl, much longer than most people that are demanding displays of anger.

saying “sorry, we don’t know, guess you’ll have to suffer.” Advocating for my EDS needs during IIH testing was “complications are rare.” But not rare in EDS population, and it caused damage I’m still dealing w 3 years later. Patient knowledge is so underrated and unappreciated. Thank you for

We rly do need more research. And yes, it could be who is active, but I’ve seen that connection too. And we rly need more HCWs who are conscious of the existence between POTS/IIH/EDS. When on IIH tx, the response to the conflict between tx and it interacting w POTS was throwing their hands up and

Thank you for talking this out. It’s something that I’ve had the sense of but couldn’t put to words. Typical tx that forces blood flow to the brain doesn’t work effectively for me, so I know there’s more at play, esp with my IIH. It felt like conflicting needs, thank you for articulating it.

I just finished watching it, he’s so good. We grew up around the same area of Louisiana and have been watching him come up for several years, so proud of him.

Seeing terms like “vaccination fatigue” and a few years ago “pandemic fatigue” makes me.. irrationally angry.

Accessibility is anathema to fascism's hyperindividualistic, every-man-for-himself destructive ethos. Make your content accessible and make fascists angry. 🌈

Covid-related hearing loss *is* preventable hearing loss, so it wouldn’t be diluting the message. It would be adding to it and protecting people.

The “just a flu” excuse has always immediately fallen apart for me. Pre-Covid, I developed ME/CFS after having the flu, it completely changed every aspect of my life in a matter of months. Not to mention flu mortality. Folks who position flu as nbd- and ppl who parrot the line- lose all credibility.
