The issues with AGI may just be down to silicon being a bad standing for biological processes. That doesn't require anything mystical. Or it could just be a question of compute/data/energy resources. Again nothing spooky or mystical required.

Joe was our motivated, inquisitive although sometimes dumb friend. He would get interesting people on his podcast and could navigate a conversation well enough to make it interesting. Over time it got more annoying that he wouldn't research his guests and his opinions became driven by agenda.
