The Navy also had the first-ever female Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral Lisa Franchetti, and she got fired tonight by the least-qualified secretary of defense ever. She now joins Coast Guard Admiral Linda Fagan who was fired the day after Trump lied during his presidential oath a second time.

To paraphrase James Carville, "It's the controllers and pilots, stupid." The FAA's technology assists the human beings that succeed or fail at keeping air travel safe. Both of those occupations are suffering from severe shortages and both of them have long lead times in training new people.

I'm sure none of this will be affected by the fact that the FAA directly regulates Musk's SpaceX launching rockets from its facility in Texas on the Gulf of Mexico.

There's nothing Musk's engineers have to offer. While technology is important in assisting air traffic controllers and pilots, it's those people who ultimately control whether the ATC system works extraordinarily well or fails. The problem is there are personnel shortages in both occupations.

"[I]n June 2023, the United States Department of Transportation Inspector General found that 77% of air traffic control facilities critical to the industry's daily operations were short-staffed. And the challenges show no signs of resolving on their own." simpleflying.com/us-atc-short...

Even if he weren't Elon Musk, the AfD fanboy, he and his engineers have nothing to offer. The ATC system in the United States has technology that assists controllers and pilots. However, what really makes the system work is the people. There aren't enough controllers and AI can't replace them.

Who said The Purge was just a movie? To be a "conservative" is to be firmly anti-science. Make Medical Lysenkoism Great Again.

"Individuals with gender dysphoria have volunteered to serve our country and will be treated with dignity and respect."
Written in the last paragraph of a memo that completely negates "dignity and respect" coming from an administration that wants to completely negate the existence of trans people.

FUN FACT: The official who would carry out any expropriation (if and when the act becomes operational) is the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Dean McPherson, who is white and openly gay. www.mambaonline.com/2017/06/13/p...

YES! Democrats absolutely must let Mike Johnson know that Trump needs to come to House Democrats if Trump wants a budget bill and an increase in the debt ceiling. Trump claims "the deal" is his specialty. Prove it.

The flying monkeys don't even need to dox them through ordinary means. "Aides to Elon Musk...have locked career civil servants out of computer systems that contain the personal data of millions of federal employees, according to two agency officials." www.reuters.com/world/us/mus...

"Of course, the sins of the grandfather are not the sins of the grandson, and it would be unfair to suggest otherwise. Joshua Haldeman died when Elon Musk was 2 years old."

My late eldest brother Col. Marc B. Powe, graduated from Texas A&M and was commissioned in the Army in 1961. He would absolutely agree with everything you wrote in this piece as do my two brothers who both served during Vietnam. Trump doesn't care about the military except as a prop to his ego.

I disagree as I think trying to manage a new Jane or Johnny Unbeatable becoming the new nominee would not be so easy that it can be put together in time for the election.
