Suikoden 1 remaster retouched so much of the translation but still missed the sword called "Pluck" (it's a Jojo reference)

Taking a moment to admire this map in Transformers Super God Masterforce

Tri, 3 Ultimate, 4 Ultimate, World, Iceborne…and now Wilds! Hope everyone’s having a great time. Proud of the crew that worked on this alongside our long-time pals at Capcom. ❤️

A few weeks ago I posted about how to give feedback in the translation industry, but you can't have give without take. Learning to take and apply the feedback you're given can really help you grow. j-entranslations.com/how-to-take-...

Want to learn how to elevate your localization using theory and creative writing techniques? Join me for an online seminar on March 8th/9th! JAT is hosting me for a 90-minute talk about localizing character voices in anime and games. Reg link, more info, and sample slides in the thread below 👇

Macross 7 featured a villain voiced by Akio Suyama, after finishing that show, I got a hankering for another game featuring him as a main character...

Finally finished Macross 7. My thoughts at the end: macross7.jpg

Check out this charming historical romance I'm translating! Daughter of a low-ranking baron enters a fake romance with the son of an earl so they both can avoid unwanted suitors. MC is an art dealer and MMC has Beautiful TraumaTM, so it's right up my alley and a joy to translate.

Frank... (we got him down safely)

I read a lot of random fantasy romance manhwa in my free time nowadays, and at least three times now I've seen them translate a noble house surname as "Etwall" or "Etwal". Please, for the love of God, Google your names to make sure they're not French before finalizing them... (It's Étoile, "star")

Not to be confused with 顔を洗って出直して来い ("wash your face and come back again"). "Washing your face" is part of a morning wake-up routine, so it means "You couldn't have been in your right mind for whatever you just said/did, so I'll let you wake up fully and have a do-over." bsky.app/profile/thet...

I'm 30 episodes into Macross 7, and while I agree with the consensus that it could have cut one of its four cours without losing much, this show is great. Gamlin's development from a hard-ass hater to an earnest guy who doesn't "get" rock music but is still the MC band's biggest supporter is great.

Today's J-E translation lesson: 首 (kubi) 首 literally translates to "neck", but it almost always refers to the head, especially when cutting is involved. If you write "cut the neck" in EN instead of "behead", it sounds weird. 首 is also colloquially used to talk about firing someone from a job.
