Content. Choose content. Iā€™ve been incredibly lucky to have great collaborators on a variety of topics which have resulted in publications in different journals. Never once considered a journalā€™s score, just thankful for the opportunity to be part of the research, case report, and such.

I think the process would be better if journals informed submitters about the delay. If the submission is very focused that further limits who can do the review. And submitting to another journal, might not change things much. I donā€™t agree with using 1 review. Thatā€™s not how peer review works.

Iā€™ve been on all sides as an editor, submitter, and reviewer with all the ups and frustrating downs. Communication tends to be the big breakdown point and I think contributes to the frustration.I have had a few manuscripts where Iā€™ve invited 20+ reviewers which leads to delays. 1/

Manatees are related to elephants and rock hyraxes, so maybe something to that. Iā€™m completely biased, but manatees are great!!!

Would like to know what that is an adaptation for the birds? Is it foraging related?

That is a huge poster session! Such a great way to engage with people at a meeting rather than ā€œwe have 2 minutes for questionsā€ for a platform presentation.

As an editor (unpaid), Iā€™m with other editors that have responded- we may end up working on the manuscripts at odd hours/weekends because this isnā€™t our full time work. Weā€™re trying ti be timely with reviews, but it can be tough to secure enough reviewers adding to workload and off hours work.

Yep, so glad I made the switch. Add to this that they provide detailed coverage and reporters have no problem asking tough questions.

I hear you! I did a microsatellite DNA study for my Masterā€™s degree and there were way to many mornings with empty boxes, but abundant tears

Itā€™s not the town square with philosophers debating questions of existence, letā€™s not elevate X to some holy shrine of enlightenment. Itā€™s a social platform and if engagement on a social platform leads to bullring and name calling, thatā€™s not a necessary evil to achieve a fantasy of civil discourse

Iā€™ll stick with BBC. Not perfect, but better than the MSM. They like to promote the culture wars just as much as the GOP. But I think thereā€™s a good chunk of us that have moved on.
