When I returned to painting, I organized my old paints:
The old black flip top Citadel pots had a 100% failure rate, all dried up.
I had decanted most of the bolter pots into dropper bottles. The ones I didn't were also at 100% failure.
These two were the absolute worst pots that ever existed.

This coming from the guy who paints yellow over a black primer is pretty telling, haha.

The great thing about these is when they don't have the shields on yet, they look like they're uncomfortable from telling a bad joke.

Yanno, yours is one of the first blogs I came across when my joy of painting was rekindled after the pandemic. It's so cool to see how much progress you've made on the Flesh Tearers since then.

Bob Olley's work is unmistakeable but I don't remember which series this one is from.

Don't see any of the DTN-8 bots in the store. Any plans to put those in the store?

Yes, it's 100% training AI. eBay does this with their captchas, too, and it pisses me off every time.

Nice! Definitely want some of those DTN8 bots.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, thousand dollar titans, but I'm sorry can we just stop and appreciate those two cat portraits?

This could be the second half of a "Woman yells at cat" meme right here, haha.

Hell yeah! Been waiting on these but I think I'll wait just a teeeeeeny bit longer for the ghasts to hit the store, then make a bigger order. Very hyped though!

I used to taper the edges. However I live in an apt now days so can't sand the MDF down like I prefer anymore. I'm going to try treating them as display bases with a sharp angle (but the edges painted like a mini base) and see how that looks.

I never admit to abandoning any of them. They just "drop in priority" or I think "I'll get to them later" as I put them back in their case.
I think the unreleased protonid I have has actually sat on my work desk for years though. Fear of not doing it perfectly has frozen progress.

Appreciate the answer! Might be worth adding some to my toolbox.

What advantage does this have over the extra thin? I find I rely on the capillary action quite a lot but I've never used the variety you're suggesting.

Was that the Taurus Auctions one? If so, you got it for a pretty decent price, congrats!

Hah! I'm on shiitake as well. The superior mushroom.

I was confused until I realized I was reading the word "Grok" but thinking of the Grox from Rogue Trader/WH40K.

Thanks!
Satyr Art Studio has a set of Oldhammer Fimir inspired "Fomorians". They're smaller, and fit well on a 32mm round base. I plan to use the original larger Citadel ones as heroes or leaders for a display war band.

The Vallejo matt varnish in the little bottles is not totally matt for some reason.
I use Vallejo Mecha Matt Varnish 27.702, the stuff that comes in the larger bottles. Mine is usually airbrushed, but it comes out completely matt for me even if brushed.

The art from #69 was an instant fav since the second I saw it, years and years after release.
Also Issue #258, which I saw on release as a younger lad so it's probably a fav for, uh, less artistic reasons. 😅

Cool coincidence, I just got Drow 2E in the mail today so my ADD68 Drow are complete (but of course need to be based and painted 😅).
23 variants left to complete the whole set! That open mouth Bard is going to be a real expensive PITA to get.

Just finished the gnoll a week or so ago to complete my #oldhammer Citadel BDD02 Dungeon Monsters Boxed set and really proud of 'em!

My dad used to have these Aurora prehistoric scene sets and I swear these pics look just like the art from those old boxes.

Brass rod and tin tubes are affordable and easy to work with! Here in the states, there's a company called K&S that does them cheap. Iunno if they're in the UK, but certainly there's a comparable product.
