This is false. My ex husband ghosted me after we separated and now I legally can't get a divorce unless I hire a lawyer for $5k minimum or a PI to track him down. We have no children and we split our assets long ago. The system is fucked.

As someone with a tiny audience whose writing is currently my only contribution to society (not by choice), I don't feel that I have the option to move to a fringe platform for ethical reasons. I get that's not the case for Ken, but this feels like a convo of the privileged over here lol

Those are shitty neighbors, straight up.

Of course, one look at Parlor would tell you that!! This is somewhat misleading though as a lot of leftists have become new gun owners in the past couple of years... Precisely because the right is so dangerous. If they're the only ones with guns the situation is so much worse.

The ignorance is astounding - focusing on geoengineering when small planes routinely dump excess jet fuel near airports. But of course if it's real & done by the rich it's boring & inconsequential. Or they just truly know nothing about anything.

Unfortunately people tend to automatically respect those who have power, without asking if they deserve it. Corporate malfeasance always gets a pass because they're at the top of the hierarchy of power, and most people don't question that hierarchy.

To me it's our true home. Where wildness reigns because we aren't masters of all. We don't "own" it and we don't control it. The modern concept of wilderness is flawed though, because it "others" nature & separates it from us. To our distant ancestors the land was a vast garden, carefully tended.

This makes sense, which reveals who the target audience for this movie is. I hope it has the intended effect! Makes it a lot less enjoyable for me to watch though 😛

I would love to, but every time I've tried looking around for mutual aid groups in my area I come up empty. I'm sure they're there but I don't know how to find them! I wasn't able to find out about any Palestine rallies before they happened either. 🫤

This is why I didn't like the silly "both sides" plot aspect, though I understand the reasons for it.

Yeah, I had that thought just a bit ago. If the goal was to show the grim reality of civil war to wake people up to the reality of what their rhetoric would mean, making it apolitical would make sense. I'm just not that audience. 😛

I'd even say it's not just stupid, it's DANGEROUS.

It's time we all took up a new diet. 😈

Except this movie doesn't though. At least not in any way accurately, which feels like a cowardly move.

My thoughts exactly.

I understand the creative motivation there, but it also feels like an utterly cowardly move considering that we are facing the very real specter of civil war right now, and it very much IS about team red vs team blue.

Which is a completely debunked idea. 🫤

Exactly. Not to mention the very real possibility that the US could experience something like that in the near future. 🙄

One of the concepts in Starhawk's book The Fifth Sacred Thing is how technologies were all reexamined to consider their benefit to society vs the cost, and many (like cars) didn't make the cut!

This is exactly like how the tears of white women were used as justification for lynchings during Jim Crow - such as Black Wall Street where they firebombed an entire town over it. Racists through and through!!

I'm so sorry, that sounds like a nightmare. 🙁

If this is you having this problem, you should try doggie diapers. It'll still require dealing with it but at least it'll be a lot less messy!

Also, California has a bigger population than the 21 smallest states put together, but gets only 2 Senators in Congress. Which means the same # of citizens get 42 Senators to represent them. This is not legitimate.

Fascism is coming, potentially in another civil war. We need to be prepared.

and the old tricks we used to be able to use (like quotes to get exact phrases) no longer work.

Honestly, any time I am looking for something specific I can't find it. All that returns are the most mainstream results based on only the main keyword in my search. All the other search terms just get completely ignored.

You are wonderful and absolutely 1000% deserving of love!!

responsibility ≠ guilt. no one should feel guilt for something they had no part of, but as members of this society with a responsibility for its well-being, i think we do incur an obligation to remedy the contemporary effects of past injustice

Unfortunately I've found that for very specific searches DuckDuckGo isn't much better. It's not immune from the corrupting influence of SEO. These days search engines are simply broken. The only way to find actual answers is on Reddit: no algorithm, no SEO!

Their superiors in the department NEED to face criminal charges too. Only when this happens will those in charge actually ensure that this kind of thing never happens.

With galactic war mixed in. Lol

I've heard this before. I think it appeals to a more mature audience - it seems to go over the head of the youngsters. Either that or they just don't want anything meaty & serious.
