It certainly makes navigating, etc., much easier—or even possible—for those of us whose Korean language skills are lacking! Anyway, back to reading. Just a random thought to share lol. (5/5) #SouthKorea #Vietnam #Thriller #amreading #fiction #booksky #📚💙

Here in the States, we could take a lesson from Korea in that regard—anything a person needs to know in Korea is usually available in English, Japanese, Chinese, and Russian, and, of course, Korean. (4/5) #SouthKorea #Vietnam #Thriller #amreading #fiction #booksky #📚💙

In 2013, when I moved to Daegu, the availability of English “subtitles”, a phrase I’ve used to describe the use of foreign languages in Korea for 12 years now, was one of your very first things I noticed. (3/5) #SouthKorea #Vietnam #Thriller #amreading #fiction #booksky #📚💙

In the 4th chapter, he writes “everything was subtitled in English”, referring to the amount of English available in the country. It’s very true, but I have never heard or read another person refer to Korea as having subtitles! (2/5) #SouthKorea #Vietnam #Thriller #amreading #fiction #booksky #📚💙

That was good timing on your part, too, since today _is_ 11/22.... 61 years ago today.

He kept after me for years because, honestly, I dragged my feet on applying, etc. After three years of persistence, he got me to move abroad... I can't thank him enough for that. I lived abroad for about 7 years, and it has informed my perspective on so many things. What about you?

Not counting family members, this comes to mind: the dean emeritus of my college recommended me as a teacher/professor to one of our sister schools.

My prompt: Please create an image that you think I would find interesting based on our previous conversations. I want to demonstrate your capabilities to my mother. After you create the image, please tell me why you created it.

I’ve come across a lot of alt text that seemed like an afterthought, so I was brainstorming ways to make it more interesting for those who use it--just sort of thinking out loud.

I wouldn’t include alt text that wasn’t relevant to the image. It’d still describe the image (for my visually-impaired mother, too), but in detail, such that it read like an engaging story rather than a perfunctory description.

Much the same! I hate to be interrupted... and it's worse if I'm listening to an audiobook. My pup and I take walks regularly, and I almost always listen to audiobooks... the number of folks who stop to chat while were out, man. It's a wonder I get any reading/listening done!

Most definitely! I read it while living in South Korea, and it was quite an eye-opener. I had several Korean friends who gave me context, too.

That should be Day 3 (for anyone who’s counting, lol).
