Credit to Renault for working hard to minimise the impact of EV fires. Considerably less common than in ICE vehicles, these fires can be time consuming to extinguish. They've created a 'Fireman switch' which will be freely available for other manufacturers to use. Source: Top Gear search.app/ssef

Often we miss the point when evaluating heat pumps, that they ultimately reduce the energy demand on the energy networks. Over the course of Nov, Dec and Jan my total energy usage has reduced by 40% a month. It's also a bonus bonus that it's saved £150 during this time. #heatpump

Really interesting. Mitsubishi ecodan 8.5kW. Left of the line it's running in Auto Adapt mode with temperature differential turned off. Right of the line it's running with the flow temperature set to 33 (the target temp based on the curve and external conditions). Cycling at around 2 per hour.

Decent offering from Tomato energy for homes with a heat pump compared to @octopus.energy Cosy. Feels like Octopus are giving with one hand and taking with the other at 40p kWh during peak times! Add an EV to Tomato and it's even cheaper. No option to combine with Octopus. #heatpump #smarttariff

I've been able to use @openenergymon.bsky.social to optimise the performance of my newly installed Ecodan 8.5kW during its first winter. Ecodan Auto Adaptive proving to produce better performance compared to pure weather comp during similar outside conditions.
