The drop you see in the shoulders when you just let someone talk.. and they feel heard… and they aren’t being rushed out the door! #edchatie

I can’t speak with too much experience here, but listening, and *hearing* parents and really endeavouring to work with them. Really working to understand. My parents really had to fight on behalf of my brother (before SNAs existed). My mam still talks about the one teacher that *heard* her. #edchatie

I can’t take credit for the concept! Today is ‘Ireland Reads Day’ -it’s an initiative to promote reading for pleasure nationally ☺️ (I’ll use any excuse though!!) www.irelandreads.ie

I love that for older classes too 🤩 since I’ve been out of the classroom my recycling bin is a lot fuller….!😆

Thanks Patrick and all #edchatie. I can collect my ‘extended TBR list’ stamp after this one!

Nothing irks me more than shiny displays! Not much good if you can’t even see them. 🙈

💯 resonates with me, Dee!

I don’t think I even own one these days, Dee! I saw someone using the pouches today and they evoked the same sort of ‘indifferent nostalgia’ I’d get from seeing a video cassette. Anchor chart queen over here after doing the MEdLPP 🙌

As @playfulclassroom.bsky.social mentioned - discovery learning landed with me! I think I started to build the ladder for myself through harsh realisation and being responsive rather than having a corpus of cognitive science knowledge to draw on though! #edchatie

Thanks, Eamonn! Absolutely! Children are typically pros at this - it’s adults that need reminding. It’s tempting to overcompensate with lots of resources to support *us* to navigate the ambiguity around creative lessons.. when really you can draw so much out with as little as a twig.. 💭

Brings me back to primary school where we were all FIXATED on a giant slab of rock on the school pitch. Fixated to the point that a timetable had to be put in place so everyone had a fair chance to play with it. A stage.. a house.. the first car I ever drove.. that rock was *literally* everything 🪨

I’m musing about how particularly challenging this must be at 2nd level considering the breadth of content that needs to be covered and the nature of the exams that need to be prepared for #edchatie

A big challenge for teachers in the day-to-day is trying to pivot the nature of activities and assessments to impede learners’ ability to ‘side step’ or delegate engagement with tasks to #AI ….

My favourite #AI faux-pas was Spotify DJ referring to ‘Here I am, Lord’ as ‘Indie Rock’ (Doomed to relive Confirmation practices in the church with rang a sé in every other randomly generated playlist now.Let this be a cautionary tale to those who offer their Spotify access for anything!) #edchatie
