The hell we are! Get fucked!

They’re not called Rare Earth Metals because they’re scarce, but because as a group of elements they took a long time to isolate. It’s an antiquated English use of rare meaning “widely distributed or isolated” that died in Victorian times.

Not to be (overly) dramatic...

Normalizing every possible “other side” as a valid perspective that needs to be given a voice is not journalism

Canada, take note. Appeasement is not the path forward.

Note to self: don't ever say anything negative about the Scotties Tournament of Heart's (Canadian Women's Curling Championship) online.

It's so weird to see @marawilson.bsky.social re-posting my old friend @jayvanbavel.bsky.social. Social media is back!

Here is a new, shorter version of our mental imagery survey. Please if you can spare a few minutes we would appreciate if you could take this & pass it along to others who might be interested. Thanks! tstbl.co/763-452 #neuroskyence #visionscience #psychscisky #aphantasia #mentalimagery

Someone at Postmedia HQ has been a little worried about what all this patriotism means for them.

Canada-Russia hockey final tonight, just like old times.

Akim Aliu just gave it to PK Subban.

Basically every undergraduate essay:

Trump rode to political prominence on birtherism and spent the last month of his campaign claiming that Haitians were eating cats. The rise of authoritarianism in America *must* be understood as a misinformation crisis.

VSS sending out a message that basically said "hey international folks - we know you may have reservations about coming here but we still need your money!" is kind of tone deaf.

Interest in the Google search term "join the military" in Canada over the past 90 days

Everyone in the Trump coalition voted for someone to get got. Most of them didn’t realize that they were that someone to someone else.

If you are speaking up about people booing the American anthem and not speaking up about the president of the United States threatening to annex Canada, I have no time for you.

Happy Flag Day Canada. The maple leaf celebrates 60 years as a beacon of decency.

Can we start to discuss how ignorant Musk & his minions are, and how much contextual knowledge matters?

We're hiring! Know anyone who wants a tenure-track teaching position with a focus on undergraduate statistics and research methods and who also wants to live in a pretty awesome area in 🇨🇦? Tell them to apply! brocku.wd3.myworkdayjobs.com/brocku_caree...

If you see something (horses), say something ("horses")

I found this to be an informative and provocative read - what happened to cognitive science? Authors argue, based on bibliometric and scientometric analysis, that cognitive science as a discipline is basically dead. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

This took us years to do, from idea to publication, so glad to see this out 😊 Would love it if you would read and share. And huge thanks to all who helped us, including all our participants. #visionscience #neuroskyence #psychscisky #cogsci #cognitivescience #cognitivepsychology

Guitars are back, and so is my desire to fist pump in a sweaty club.

IMO Derek - who is aphantasic - is doing the kind of rigorous experimental work that should have been done before all the big claims were made about aphantasia. Now the cat is out of the bag, we have to get researchers and the public to unlearn unsupported claims, which won’t happen.

Honest reaction: I did not expect this.

Apparently citydwellers in the US are walking 15% faster than they did in 1980 some academics got video of four major intersections -- shot in 1979-80 and again in 2008-10 people walked faster; lingered less; more likely to be alone Item #3 in my latest "Linkfest": buttondown.com/clivethompso...
