Echo Base?
No, Echo's in the Bad Batch!

Seems that I did not in fact have that discipline. Though, in my defence, I did ditch the Joy Division after about two songs today

Yep. Some music just needs spooky weather to work properly

They were a perfect match for that show

Didn't actually know it had been there (just checked; whenever it may have been there, it isn't any more). I have the boxset, and finished watching it tonight

It definitely wasn't Duffield in the pub bathroom

Yeah. By the end of season five I hated the writers for making her so hateful. They made her character, and every scene she was in, so painful to watch. The show is so much better once she's not in it

Oh my god I'm almost forgotten quite how unbearable her character is

I can never decide if they'd not heard of Hootie & the Blowfish, so didn't consider that their name is too much of a reminder of another band, or if they did know and decided it was somehow a good thing, but I always forget that they're not Hootie & the Blowfish and are actually a more recent band

The caffeine levels associated with 58 minutes straight chain drinking coffee could go some way towards explaining why they've decided that this is the best way to read a book

Thanks! That's the one I've heard mentioned the most over the years, and this puts it top of my list for having a listen to the other soundtracks

That's the only other one of their soundtracks that I ever bought (and, to be honest, really listened to in the first place), though just on digital. A couple of my all time fave Mogwai songs on that one

That's the only other one of their soundtracks that I actually know (I probably need to listen to their soundtracks). It's good. I like it, but, and I know this is very subjective, it only has a few bangers on it for me

And the soundtrack is incredible. Easily my favourite album of theirs (and maybe my album of the year so far) and the first that I've immediately wanted to have on vinyl, which is awkward, as it turns out that it's not available on vinyl

Is this an era of peak Mogwai? Most Mogwai albums have a few great songs, but I can take or leave the rest of each album. But The Bad Fire is really good, like half of that album is solid bangers. I was going to call it their best album, then I listened to soundtrack for The Bombing Of Pan Am 103

Cream soda needs to make a comeback. As well as being nice by itself, it's also a far better mixer than basically any other carbonated beverage

These are the stems that had lost leaves, cut near where the leaves start, and I've cut their stumps lower again to see if those stumps will also eventually grow a new stem, while trying to propogate these stems (and in the mean time, I'll get buy a small ZZ or two to pad out what's left the pot)
comment in response to

My ZZ had some earlier sitting in water issues (my fault entirely) and lost a few stems as a result, while other stems had lost quite a few leaves, and it was kinda leggy and sparse as a result. BUT it also recently grew a new stem from the stump left by removing a water-ruined stem so I have a plan

When I looked up how to do it, the consenus seemed to be three months (though a reddit thread had multiple people agreeing that a pothos cutting could speed things up a bit, hence the pothos that's in there as well)

I would have just gone with a single pair with normal lenses, but between my sight test and the pressure test (so with my glasses on rather than contacts in) I was looking at my phone and was far too aware that I needed to move it further away to read clearly

Three decades of being rebuked over it yet, because I'm perfect (shush; just go with it), apparently it's never really been a concern anyway

Like, despite never having had an eye infection, I've been pretty heavily scolded at times over it, but today it turned out that, as (unless I'm washing my hair) I have the showerhead positioned at a height so the water hits me at shoulder level rather than at head height, it's all okay

I don't think I've ever felt quite so much like my parents as I did while making that decision in the opticians today

That's put the slightest of springs back in my step 🙂. Two years ago (my previous eye test) there wasn't enough difference in my distance and close vision to be worth worrying about it, but I've definitely noticed it the last couple of months, so it felt like it was time

Strictly speaking, I started being a kid in the mid 70s, but most of my childhood occured in the 80s. But, yeah, that moment in which I decided that I should go for varifocals rather than standard lenses in my new glasses hit me hard

Imagine heckling Low just for being Low. SY said they were perplexed by the reaction as they figured ATP would be a receptive crowd but it was too much. They're strongest in the common ground between Kim, Thurston and Lee, but the set was too Kim. It may have worked if there had been more variety

Flirting doesn't have to be a specific thing, especially not on a first date. Good chat, if the vibe is good, can be a significant thing. Better than forcing yourself to consciously flirt

His work is so great. If I had anywhere to hang them, I'd have a couple of his prints (and maybe I should get them anyway, for future use). I love both of these so much

The Diamond Sea is genuinely one of my most favourite SY songs (and I listen to the 26 minute version of it in order to have more of it) but, yeah, they're better at songs than at noodling, and NYC Ghosts isn't that strong an album (and they ditched the vocal from one its best songs in that set)

The entire set is here. Much more of a sitting down in a comfortable room listen, than a standing up in a hall on the second day of a festival listen sonicyouth.bandcamp.com/album/live-a...
