I have to remind myself of this a lot at the moment!

The Stonewall Inn released a response to the National Parks Service removing the word transgender from the park outside of the Inn. A great reminder that we have to look after each other

Please share and join the session if you can

If the government really wanted to put people smugglers out of business, they would open safe routes for refugees.

So many things to comment on here, but 5 years after the preventable deaths of Katie and William, the fact that some prison cells are still not safe is inexcusable. Immediate "actioning" rather than just "carefully considering" the recommendations is what is required 💔. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

What a great letter by @just-stopoil.bsky.social members on the state of the prison system. “Vengeance does not make us safer, punishment does not heal” Anyone with a conviction for political activism, we’d love your views in our survey: forms.gle/oCrkRFJ5QBtm... theecologist.org/2025/jan/15/...

21 years ago, British journalist Tom Hurndall died after spending 9 months in a coma. Tom was carrying a Palestinian child out of range of Israeli army gunfire when he was shot in the head. We will never forget him, nor his vision of a free and independent Palestine.

A boy who pleaded guilty to charges while a victim of child trafficking could have his conviction overturned after the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) decided to refer the case back to the court for review, following our application. howardleague.org/news/howard-...

It’s great to hear that focus will be on access to justice. Let’s hope this extends to public law / human rights representation for those people subject to punishment and/or supervision in the community. #humanrights #criminalrecord #livedexperience #criminology

Really pleased the minister agreed to meet me to discuss my #RentersRightsBill amendment to give disabled people the right to adapt their home to meet their needs. Not counting chickens yet but potential big win for all who campaigned on this. I'll continue to push this forward.

Too many ex-prisoners are being recalled to jail because of "excessive" licensing conditions, the probation watchdog tells @thetimes Crime & Justice Commission: www.thetimes.com/uk/crime/art... @rachelsylvester.bsky.social

Also I am offering a facilitated co-working session for people who participated in the "How to Take Action Where You Are" sessions in Dec & earlier this month. It's for people who want to create your personal activism/organizing plans for 2025. bringittogether20205.eventbrite.com - SPACE LIMITED

Those of you who have a criminal record (or a family member with a criminal record) this is a great chance to have your say on the ways your life has been affected. Please take a few mins to fill in the survey and share the post 🙏 #criminal #criminology #criminaljustice #livedexperience

"Our prisons are so broken that we can't carry on. Politicians may disagree on how we fix the penal system, but everyone can agree that reform is needed." Our Chief Executive, Andrea Coomber KC (Hon.), wrote an opinion piece for @bigissue.com: www.bigissue.com/opinion/pris...

So few people are prepared to talk about these topics. We need to amplify the voices of those who do. Please have a read and share the blog. #livedexperience #criminal-justice

If you have a criminal record or you have a family member with a criminal record, please reach out! The more voices we have on our Board, the better our services will be.

Back to work on Monday 🥳

‘The impact has been out of this world’: the stranger who gave away a £100,000 inheritance to his neighbours

I feel like sometimes the plight of people in prison is said passively, without the associated and heavily needed empathy. These people spend 24 hours a day often with random strangers, in a space only designed for one person, and with a risk of violence, and no real support to get them through.

Let’s welcome @nolrscotland.bsky.social! We’ve added them to our starter pack of people interested in sharing (and learning from) #livedexperience of the #criminaljustice system. Let us know if you want to be added: go.bsky.app/7vpn4gU

Today is International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers #IDEVASW. Ireland’s laws are fueling violence and endangering lives. #IDEVASW exposes how laws that claim to protect are, in reality, resulting in harassment, violence and even death. sexworkersallianceireland.org/2024/12/pres...

Absolutely spot on! It’s all very well and good me talking about my own experiences but I am only one person. What we need is systems that allow the voices of as many people as possible to be heard.

I couldn’t be prouder to work alongside such a brilliant team of people!!

@teamlabouruk.bsky.social had the chance to come out with a strong message regarding the contribution that people are able to make to society after a #criminal conviction and yet, so disappointingly, they didn’t. What message does that send to potential employers? www.theguardian.com/politics/202...
