Time to use Amazon like they used to use brick-and-mortar book stores!

Remember this picture, & others like it, every time you hear someone in your city say "we're not Amsterdam." This was #Amsterdam in the 1970s. Many of the cities we admire made better choices regarding cars in the past. and are still making better choices today. Better choices instead of excuses.

Withdraw the state visit invitation to Trump. Offer one to Zelensky instead. With bells and fucking whistles.

How reassuring it would be right now for the UK to be a member of some kind of supranational political and economic union…

We stand in unwavering support with Ukraine and its brave people against continued Russian aggression. Now more than ever, Europe must stand united to achieve a just and lasting peace for Ukraine. #SlavaUkraini

A reminder that it's not a "shouting match" when only one side is doing any shouting.

"I’m a proud European and of the view that Brexit was a mistake that continues to have a negative impact — not just on my city and country, but on the European community as a whole." - Sadiq Khan

I am proud that Scotland has supported buffer zones, and will continue to work to improve access to healthcare for everyone. Today and every day we need to stand for women’s rights and women’s right to choose and against the agenda of Donald Trump and JD Vance.

The UK government needs to shut X down so long as the amplifier-in-chief is spreading wild disinformation. This situation has gone on way too long.

Climate change is already impacting football, from waterlogged pitches to dangerous temperatures. 🌍🔥 Yet the sport is increasingly reliant on high carbon sponsors and international air travel. Stuart Parkinson exposes some of the sport's climate own goals.🥅⚽ 👇 #greensky 🧪

Flat and affordable fares are a proven way to change public behaviour. It’s frustrating Transport Scotland routinely ignores the evidence on this, but the bus fare cap pilot secured by the @scottishgreens.org in this year’s budget is a start

Seen in Stuttgart, Germany

We should all reflect on transport choices and what we can do to make our communities, local businesses and neighbourhoods safer and greener for all 👇

We got a message from the university to remove any use of the "DEI", "diversity", "equity", or "inclusion" from all public-facing documents. They said that even "biodiversity" is being flagged by the federal government. We live in the dumbest timeline.

How to beat Farage: Expose him as a charlatan whose Brexit has made us all poorer and who spends more time in the US than Clacton How NOT to beat Farage: Agree with him that immigration is the number one issue and then say you are "doing something about it"

Imagine you were the richest man in the world. You could have anything you wanted, go anywhere you wished, do whatever took you fancy. How would you spend your weekend? Depriving the poorest people in the world of food and healthcare and boasting about it?

Cycle paths are pointless if women don't feel safe using them at night www.bikeradar.com/features/opi... Nearly a quarter of Transport for London cycleways are deemed socially unsafe after dark @infrasisters.bsky.social @InfraSisters.mastodon.scot.ap.brid.gy will tell you the same for Edinburgh

What Trump is proposing is ethnic cleansing. All governments must call it out for what it is and stand unequivocally against it. This shows why we can never cosy-up to or support Donald Trump. He's shown total contempt for human rights and is now actively promoting crimes against humanity.

In Edinburgh council right now the new council leader is using spurious standing orders to avoid answering questions - not exactly dedication to transparency and accountability.

An excellent listen

“If Elon Musk thinks it’s a bad idea, it must be worth trying, right?” Think we might have stumbled on a new universal law here.

Ugh card reader for authentication! #nationwide why are you still using a card reader - there are so many better and less onerous methods of #MFA. I don't want to have to carry a card reader with me every time I leave the house in case I need to make a payment.

🚨BREAKING 🟢Yes: 28 🔴No: 84 The SNP, Tories and Lib Dems have united to vote down our amendment to ban electric shock collars. Animal welfare experts, charities, vets and the vast majority of dog owners could not be clearer: shock collars are cruel and their use should end.

"Sexual harassment is not storming the gates of the Bastille. Mocking disabled people isn't the Harper's Ferry revolt. These are cowards kicking people who can't fight back, because they're scared of picking on someone their own size."

The froth-a-holic response from Edinburgh Evening News readers is to be expected, but the fact remains that increasing road capacity simply increases rather than decreases congestion over time.

Electric shock collars are already banned in countries across Europe. Yet here in Scotland they continue to be used. There's simply no excuse for it. Scottish Green MSPs are bringing a vote to the Scottish Parliament next week that will finally ban these cruel devices.

If you use Instagram for photos, why not switch to Pixelfed? Federated, and with an app just launched that’s so good Facebook are banning mentions of it. No billionaires involved, and check out this iOS data collection notice. You won’t see that on Instagram.

Vaccines are among the best of inventions. There's a high chance that without them, and the herd immunity they can deliver, you'd either not be here or would face a lifelong disability: *whether or not you had them yourself*. It seems crazy to have to point this out, but we forget it at our peril.

💶 It will cost 100 billion euros a year to eliminate it from our environment. ❌ We can’t continue producing more pollution that is putting our lands and access to clean water at risk. 🙅 The EU must ban PFAS now. ✍️ Sign the @greens-efa.eu petition act.greens-efa.eu/pfas?source=...

"We announced that we would leave the European Union before we had a plan for growth outside the EU." You still don't have a plan for growth outside the EU. Labour doesn't either. That's because it doesn't exist.

Can we all commit to posting this relentlessly next Monday 🤷‍♀️ It’s what she’d have wanted

Just a reminder of why regulations are often a good idea .......
