A guide to the exoparia: the presence of the exoparia doesnt actually change much for the way we reconstruct most dinosaur groups, however, it changes some minor things for two of the most well known dinosaur groups that should be taken into account: #scicomm #paleontology #dinosaur #sciart

Call-out to paleoartists! The virtual 3D exhibition goes into its second round and is looking for paintings, animations, 3D models, poems,… This will be the start of a continuous exhibition of contemporary paleoart. Registration starts on April 1st! More infos below 👇

Dinosaur skin wasn’t uniformly scaly. Skin fossils indicate that dinosaurs had varied scale sizes and distributions, and even closely-related species had different scale patterns. Here’s a close-up of skin impressions on a Corythosaurus thigh showing larger, bumpy scales among the pebbly ones. 🧪

#PaleostreamCon 2025 starting now! #Paleostream! www.twitch.tv/paleostream

#Mesozoic 100 m sprint: a juvenile #Tyrannosaurus - legitimately thought to be one of the fastest of all predatory #dinosaurs - chases down Ornithomimus. T. rex leg muscle configs suggest that they were ambushers, not marathon runners, so outrunning them was one means of escape. #paleoart #Sciart

Bird book. First draft, complete. Thanks to so many of you for advice, feedback, and ideas Can't wait for you all to read it in 2026! Happy #fossilfriday

Exciting news! Jay Balamurugan will be joining us a speaker for #DinoConUK! Jay is an assistant producer for science TV, a palaeoartist, and a science communicator. She has most recently worked at BBC Studios' Science Unit on landmark series such as #Earth, #WalkingwithDinosaurs, and #Evolution!

I had to reconstruct the new two-fingered therizinosaur Duonychus published yesterday I have been working on various Therizinosaurus for a current commission that I cannot talk much about so I felt I had to reconstruct this taxon as soon as I saw it #paleoart #sciart #dinosaur

This Saturday we will host once again #PaleostreamCon on Twitch and Discord! We are very exited for these talks and discussions!

Here it comes again! Should not be missed :)

I've got 8x8 prints of these four designs in my store without the accompanying text if you find the words a bit too spicy. Also FYI, I did design the stickers so you can cut off the words and still have an even border edge all the way around. www.emmalerae.com #sciart #paleoart

Gemini is using Pterosaur Heresies as one of it's sources now. Extremely concerning...

New therizinosaurian dinosaur with two-fingered hands, Duonychus tsogtbaatari: www.cell.com/iscience/ful... Have been looking forward to this one ever since hearing about it at the 2015 SVP meeting! 🧪 (📷Kobayashi et al.)

New blog post: how has the interpretation accompanying the Potter Creek Brachiosaurus humerus changed over the last 70 years? extinctmonsters.net/2025/03/23/i...

I figured it would be best to first introduce my somewhat recent art on this platform. I’ll start with one of my favorite subjects-showing extinct animals in rather calm situations without all the excitement or gore we so often see in #paleoart. #illustration #scientificillustration

Hatzegopteryx.

Random made-up theropod sketch warm up

The last day to go through the current exhibition! Unfortunately, there is no closing event (this time) due to a busy schedule. However, more news coming soon :)

A while ago I did a short series of illustrations showing extinct species coexisting with still living ones in my home country of Brazil, as would have happened around 15-10k years ago. #paleoart #SciArt #artbyjulio

Dodo ~ 🦤 . I’ve wanted to draw this iconic extinct bird for such a long time now and couldn’t resist having a go this weekend…✍🏼 #dodo #paleoart

And here now the result of the Candeleros formation stream! What a weird place. The part of the formation we depict here is wasn't quite as arid as some of the lower parts of the formation and yet it was dry enough that it makes me wonder... how all the sauropods? #paleostream

Part of the tetrapod fauna of the Xiaowa Formation. Late Triassic, Asia This is a plate of my book on Tetrapods of the Triassic. As you know I have been working on this book for many years and I am still working on it #paleoart #sciart #ichthyosaurs #placodonts
