Otherland by Tad Williams would make a great TV miniseries. I heard itā€™s in development, so hereā€™s hoping itā€™s gonna be made, and will be good šŸ¤ž

Are you pushing the piston down while writing as the ink empties, or was that an attempt to squeeze out the remaining ink? Iā€™m still new to TWSBI and not sure what the proper procedure is; Iā€™ve seen it done both ways.

Yeah, I know that feeling. If it requires a second person to assemble, they should include one in the box.

Epic alternate medieval history, with a grimdark bent. I would compare it in vibe to GRRM or Joe Abercrombie, but feminist.

Havenā€™t read it in a a while, but Iā€™m pretty sure ā€œRats and Gargoylesā€ by Mary Gentle (pub 1990) had a lesbian catgirl. One of my favorite books from my youth, from one of my favorite authors. Her work frequently featured queer and gender-nonconforming characters. I should re-read it someday.

Whenever Perdido Street Station comes up, it makes me sad that Mary Gentle isnā€™t more widely known. Rats and Gargoyles did the same thing better, and earlier. New Weird before it was recognized as a genre.

Obvious, but fitting.

At first glance I read this as ā€œbacon libraryā€, which would be perfectly on brand.

Yeah. More for the salt than the flavor, but without it itā€™s too bland.

My comfort food is cheap ramen with barbecue sauce and shredded cheese. Originally started eating this when I needed to save money, but got addicted to it, even though I can now afford better food.

You have discussed 1A vs true threats before, but your take on this would be interesting apnews.com/article/flor...

As a reader who occasionally nominates for awards, the acknowledgements are often the only place to find the editor of the book (without diving into internet research). I wish more publishers did proper credit pages, like for movies and video games.

Where did Boopsie get a book by @gailcarriger.bsky.social ?

Donā€™t watch enough horror to judge the ā€œbestā€ with any authority, but this was the one I enjoyed most

The new book is #7? Thatā€™s Sagan Diary erasure! (j/k, but itā€™s my favorite in the series, and I wish it had seen wider publication)

As a German native speaker, I am equally annoyed and amused by this joke

My impulse buy was commissioning several pieces of custom art (escapism, not related to current events). Going to take a few weeks before I can show them off, and I definitely donā€™t want to rush the artists in these times.

The only problem with collecting books is that I constantly run out of space on my book shelves. Have to find more space for @kbspangler.com's books, they don't deserve to be squished so.

I know how to use WinSock and C-SLIP to turn a BBS into an Internet gateway. (Alternatively: I remember the schism between IRCnet and EFnet)

Reminds me of the blue/green meme that went around social media a couple weeks ago. To me, this ink is green. šŸ˜µā€šŸ’« But I feel you on the color. When experimenting with inks, I found that I prefer darker shades too.

My musical taste trends more towards rock/metal than pop, but how about some J-Pop/Metal fusion? Could be described as dancey bouncey if you are generous, and definitely a banger - this band always makes me turn up the radio šŸ¤˜
