Of course. Also I meant "reading other works" not "reading other words." Hollywood is an example of overdoing this, as I'm sure you'd guess. Their endless rewrites (ordered by studio execs who hate to read) can turn a WWII romance into a 25th-century space opera. THAT is too much revising.

I think my point is we should be out there living our lives, getting our noses bloody and our hearts broken. When something occurs to us we write it, but it needs to be "true" within its own set of rules. I like reading other words thinking: "how much more normal was the first draft, here?"

if *everyone* left an apparition that meant hospital staff had to replace the glass every time. From what I know about hospitals that would *never* happen. So it became ice, & therefore a frozen landscape with a bridge passing over. No place like that with 17mm people exists so I just..created it.

I appreciate that, thank you. πŸ™ The story took many turns. At first the setting was a hospital and the apparitions were stained glass. I think I got the idea when a friend was dying, the way the light came in, I loved the idea of a soul leaving through a hospital window and leaving a design. But..

Can't wait man. I'm in a new office with four, huge, blank walls. I need art. (And alas, I'm too old for Star Wars stuff.)

Come on then. Walk us through what we're looking at! Oh!, and I have news. My 32-week experiment in calorie tracking is on pause. (I reserve the right to unpause at any time but I've lost 40 pounds and I'm constantly hungry.) So I'll be much more receptive to pizza recipes now. πŸ˜†

Ok, I'm all caught up *now*. But I wasn't when I sent this, and I wasn't when my damn phone went off. (It was quite annoying tbh.) But yeah. I'm all caught up. Zombies or ebola or pink noise overdose or whatever the hell.

Ok what did I miss?

I’ll take it one step further. Do you know what sherry *is?*. Of course not. Do you know what it goes with? (Neither do I.)

If I ever host a podcast (I won't) it'll be about films that are so bad I can't explain why, and then I'll spend an hour trying to.

My mother-in-law is with us as she recovers from a health emergency, and I blame everything on her dog. Everything. So let's blame *your* insomnia on *her* dog, shall we? That's fair, I think?

No, including that. Me too by the way. [prolonged groan]

You got this sir. I think a detailed road map is a very good thing. (And if your characters have any agency to speak of, you’ll have thrown the map away by the halfway point. 🀣)

Maybe and maybe. It's not unlike how I hate that all issues and industries have to be a "space" (e.g. "the vaccine hesitancy space" or "the space exploration space"). I generally like what Gen Z has done to language ("my B home slice") but "creatives" and "space" make my teeth grind.

The First Annual Bluesky Homemade Pizza Day and you're out??? (That does not roll off the tongue, by the way. We need to work on the name a little.)

I feel seen by this. Blank Check basically mind-controls me into watching whatever film they've just said they enjoyed. I'm in the middle of Seven now, The Game is next. But it's more than that, I almost re-watched Spanglish just to make sure I disliked it with the same intensity they did 🀣

Oh, and, a few replies ago I meant to say "kicked in the nvts." If Mel Brooks taught me anything, it's how to spell N-V-T-S.

Never heard of it, I need to check this one out. Not too many years ago I bought an old copy of Lord Foul's Bane and, well, there are reasons some old favorites are out of print. But this looks terrific, I'll see what Amazon has.
