On this Trans Day of Visibility/Easter, let's remember that if Jesus is the son of God, then he had nowhere from which to get a Y chromosome, and therefore must have been intersex and/or trans.

AI feels like a real mania, a genuine collective break from reality among the ruling class. They might as well be pouring billions of dollars into an attempt to replace all jobs and knowledge with a large bronze idol of Dagon.

Yes! It's particularly ridiculous because some shows (SpyxFamily, for instance) not only don't have CC, but you can't even turn on the English subtitles if the audio is set to English!

Lieberman final words: “I wish I had stopped more good things from happening”

The kids are! But just to be clear, the photo & headline combine to imply that religion as a whole is anti-queer & abusive... But the actual numbers in the article say 86% of people leaving religion are coming from ONE religion that 65% of Americans follow. 🤔

Punishment is deeply engrained in our culture, but it is essentially useless: it does not effectively alter behavior and it does not solve any problems. This remains true whether you are punishing yourself, a loved one, a stranger, or an enemy. (Note: stopping harm & punishment are different things)

"Anime" is an illusory category created by the coincidence that American animation hit its worst point just as Japanese animation had a major surge in quality, right around 1980. But the truth is, there's no good reason to consider US and Japanese animation separate art forms or fandoms.

I But Wait

Bucket list item achieved: saw End of Eva in a theater and flipped off that one guy. You know the one. Also, I call this image "The Therapist's Double Feature"

This is a tomfoolery alert: even at brunch, the wacky green glasses and novelty t-shirts are out in force. If you wish to avoid St. Patrick’s day shenanigans, stay in your homes until the threat has passed.

I made an FB post in which I accidentally miswrote "y'all" as "y'aal" and one thing led to another and now I can't stop thinking about a demon named Y'allzebub.

so mad thinking about what Floridians had to go through so Ron DeSantis could place an underwhelming distant second

What fundamentally pisses me off so much about the whole AI thing is that as soon as it appeared we just assumed that it would take the worst possible path, that instantly the assumption was that the higher ups would use it for the worst possible purposes and we were right.

Even if you don't like porn, you should sign, because sex work is work and also because sex worker organizations are the absolute best I have ever seen at reliably and consistently showing up for other marginalized groups.

Is it becoming more acceptable, or is the pattern of which words are "bad" shifting? As 100 years ago when "blasphemy" like hell and damn became more acceptable while scatology like "shit" and "fuck" became unacceptable, are those in turn becoming acceptable while slurs become less? Fucking hope so.

It's why I've been yelling about our current fascist rise for the past 20+ years. Maybe SOMEONE will listen. Far too many people are in denial– wishing for a status quo that doesn't actually exist.

The enemy is aristocracy, always has been, always will be, no matter how it's clad. That's why whenever I hear a friend say they're building "generational wealth" as a*virtue* I always wince, no matter how well-intentioned they are.

Is the "merit-based society" in the room with us now

The Boy and the Heron is magnificent. Not a career best by any means, but definitely proof that even at 82, Miyazaki's still got it.

Now that's how you cover it

we wish you a merry gyre we wish you a merry gyre we wish you a merry gyre the center can't hold

This has been relevant far too many times since I first saw it. "I would like to defeat Nazis on Earth first, and then you can fight them in the marketplace of ideas, Narnia, Mordor, whatever imaginary realm it is you think Nazis can constructively be debated in." www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKIC...

Finished Gundam: Witch From Mercury tonight. It was good! But--and this is rare for me to say regarding anime, which I usually find overpadded to hell and back--with another 10 episodes distributed throughout to explore its characters more and ZERO additional plot, it could have been *great*.

Playing D&D tonight as my beloved tabaxi rogue/ranger Snow for the first time since July. Dread Ambusher + Cunning Action (Dash) + Feline Agility = 160 ft movement speed for a single round (and she still gets her action at the end of it). Kitty got the zoomies!

Remember, kids, if Santa asks you whether you’ve been naughty or nice this year, you should always say, “Am I being detained?”

fyi in case you are wondering "may his memory be a blessing" is the standard jewish response to death but there's another, special one just for evil bastards, "may his name be erased"

Same. Obviously I know better now, but when I was 12, 15, 18? Being male was just *so gross*, obviously no one could actually like it.

I just watched the first episode of the Scott Pilgrim anime, and I'm just going to say that at SPX 2008 I asked Bryan Lee O'Malley if the evil exes die when they burst into coins, a question I am certain no one else had ever asked before or since, so I am 100% taking credit for inspiring this twist.

Ana Mardoll, with a ridiculous meme that hit at just the right moment, and an ensuing convo over Twitter DM that changed my life. (Fuck all of you for chasing him off here w/recycled KF bullshit. I neither forget nor forgive.)

This really is what happened to me. It can happen to you too!! :O
