The big question is does that make any hedgehog character who identifies as anything other than a hedgehog trans, or is sonic trans? Both??

And the M/F on birth certificates is what determines what it is on marriage and death certificates too, so its not as simple as changing one document. Its really stupid.

In order to put an F on a marriage certificate, Rose would have to get a UK gender recognition certificate, which lets you change the sex marker on other documents (like birth certificates). So she'd have to go through the lengthy and annoying and dehumanising process of getting one first.

But this is what happens when you have a legal stystem built on centuries of patriarchy, it gets updated but its still a system built for male lines of succession and women as property (hence why its *vitally important* that an M or F be on every document and changing that is nigh impossible)

Wrt marriage certificates, with the legalisation of same sex marriage there is no legal reason for legal sex to be on there. There is no distinction in legal rights between husband and wife, so what the person is listed as has no legal significance, so why not just let people pick and choose?

Its like with driving licences and passports, there is absolutely no reason "legal sex" has to be on those documents. Its photo ID, the picture just has to look like you, when I get IDed for alcohol they don't ask me to pull my pants down to confirm the sex marker matches, because that would be mad.

Yeah, in a reasonable situation 'legal sex' wouldn't exist as a concept (because it literally doesn't matter, laws aren't different for different sexes and shouldn't be) but as it is, every legal document is like "this person - who is MALE by the way - was born on this date"

Without a GRC (and subsequent change to the sex marker on other legal documents) trans people in the UK are listed as their birth sex on things like marriage and death certificates. The process of getting a GRC is designed to be as annoying and humiliating as possible.

Gender recognition documents from other countries aren't recognised in the UK anymore, so in order to get married and be listed as a wife/woman on the marriage certificate, Rose would have to go through the lengthy, invasive, dehumanising process of getting a UK GRC

You do NOT have to speak to ICE without a JUDICIAL warrant. If they attempt to enter your home or your workplace, ask for a warrant. Sometimes they will try to use other, non qualifying paperwork. They need a warrant. (2/3)
