Nothing to me is a better reflection of the Democrats' inability to react to Trump's presidency than their discourse on social media they've been spousing since the elections. People take issue with tech oligarchs because of the 'oligarchy' part, way less because of the 'tech' part.

I think they knew of political parties in the sense of largely informal factions centered around a powerful/charismatic figure or based on mutual interests/goals. I don't think the current system was ever designed to whitstand large, national, formalised, bipolarised parties.
