Washington Post got their hands on internal documents from DOGE showing the entire plan to implement resegregation. They're going to purge minorities from government by calling them DEI. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/int...

Termination notices going out this afternoon to more than 300 employees of the National Cancer Institute. Access likely ends today. Four weeks paid leave and that’s it. Strong power move for Team Cancer.

I can think of nothing worse than going on a reporting trip with Nicholas Kristoff, which I imagine involves hopping in one cab after another for anecdotes. www.nytimes.com/2025/01/04/o...

Happy New Year from Thor the sweetest golden ever 🎉🥳🎊

From my days @theprospect.bsky.social. Merry Xmas! 🎄🎁💫 prospect.org/civil-rights...

Wrote this when on staff at @theprospect.bsky.social about going home for Xmas for first time in 10 yrs. read it around now every year to remember what it felt like to be alone and gay at the holidays and to keep in mind all the LGBTQ+ ppl who still are. prospect.org/civil-rights...

Omg whyyyyyy I thought we were finally rid of throw bozo.

The Texas Observer is hiring for a Director of Development. Get all the details here:

Whoa—the Montana Supreme Court holds that its state constitution protects the right to "a stable climate system," and strikes down a law that barred consideration of greenhouse gas emissions when permitting new fossil fuel projects. juddocumentservice.mt.gov/getDocByCTra...

"The Democratic Party lacks the energy of a determined opposition — it is adrift, listless in the wake of defeat. Too many elected Democrats seem ready to concede that Trump is some kind of avatar for the national spirit — a living embodiment of the American people."

An interview with TPM’s Josh Marshall, who argues that protectors of democracy need to create a massive fundraising vehicle right now to defend the targets of Trump’s coming retribution tour.

I'm normally very dovish, but even I admit that the case for a rate cut was pretty evenly balanced given recent data. And projections about future Fed policy are almost pointless: everything depends on whether Trump really does what he's been saying he will, in which case hard to see any cuts

This has ALWAYS been what is going to happen. The way that tariffs work makes them perfect vehicles for presidential corruption. If you're on team Trump you get a waiver. If you're not, well ... sucks to be you. That's why the inaugural committee is cleaning up with CEOs.

"This documentary packs more raw emotion and uncomfortable truths into 36 minutes than others do with twice that time." Lovely review of I Am Ready, Warden from Michelle Pitcher in @texasobserver.org. Our film is still streaming now on Parmount+ ! www.texasobserver.org/death-penalt...

Yes but what does @chrisgeidner.bsky.social have to say about this?

Always a weird day to see a positive ruling from the Fifth Circuit: www.reuters.com/legal/govern...

Take a sample of 200 Democrats in Washington and you'll get 205 different approaches to the Trump era. Conciliation, trolling, resistance, and everything in between. This is what happens when there's no leadership in the party: everyone scurries around without coherence. From me:

About one year into Will Lewis’ tenure as CEO of The Washington Post, morale is in the basement & top talent are looking at the exits. Meanwhile, the state of the executive editor search appears in disarray after NYT’s Cliff Levy pulled out. Details in Status: www.status.news/p/washington...

NEWS: Montana Supreme Court unanimously rules to keep gender-affirming medical care available to minors on current terms while litigation over Montana's ban on such care continues. The ruling upheld a preliminary injunction barring enforcement of the ban. juddocumentservice.mt.gov/getDocByCTra...

More than 1,000 people drowned in the Rio Grande 2017-23: The #border’s deadliest stretch is near Eagle Pass- “ground zero” for #Texas’ Operation Lone Star w/+++barriers & barbed wire. @lhreports.bsky.social @eluniversalmx.bsky.social @washingtonpost.com www.lighthousereports.com/investigatio...

A trans person didn’t deny your health insurance claim, a giant corporation did. An asylum seeker didn’t raise your rent, a billionaire’s private equity firm did. Our focus must be taking on the billionaires & corporate greed.

what N Y Times calls "morbid glee" is better described as cries from the heart of a deeply wounded & betrayed country; hundreds of thousands of Americans shamelessly exploited by health-care insurers reacting to a single act of violence against just one of their multi-millionaire executives.

You cannot cut 2 trillion dollars from federal spending without doing terrible damage to Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security. You cannot raise tariffs without raising prices. The Republican plan is to take money from regular people and give it to the most profitable corporations on the planet.

NEW: Trans people centered themselves in a trans case before a very not trans court. Not only was Chase Strangio arguing Wednesday, but a trans plaintiff was in the courtroom, as were many other trans lawyers, journalists, and observers. "Trans people were not hidden Wednesday, and that matters."

According to @oliverdarcy.bsky.social, the LA Times owner Patrick Soon-Shiong is now requiring all opinion column headlines to be sent to him before publication -- because he was mad about one that was critical of Elon Musk. www.status.news/p/los-angele...
