I don’t own a car

Dear manager, here's what I've done this week: 1. I lied 2. I cheated 3. I bribed men to cover the crimes of other men 4. I am an accessory to murder 5. But the most damning thing of all… I think I can live with it Computer, erase that entire email.

Call me a Luddite if you must, but I much prefer the days when people had bees in their bonnets.

You know a technology is great when you have to force it on everyone and have a secret way to shut it off hidden in an unrelated submenu

And ye maye aske yowerself, 'How do Ich werke thys?' And ye maye aske yowerself, 'Wher ys that large destrier?' And ye maye tell yowerself, 'Thys nys nat my fayre castel!' And ye maye tell yowerself, 'Thys nys nat my swift goshawk!'

I have seen multiple people do this to people who voted for Harris but happen to live in states like Alabama or Texas.

Accidents down 55% and injuries down 51% since nyc congestion pricing (!!!) www.nydailynews.com/2025/02/22/c...

Believing humans can be reduced to one "smart" score that translates across disciplines--so someone who is "smart" at, say, running a tech start-up or being a reality TV star must inherently be "smart" at international diplomacy--is one of the most childish worldviews you can have. Truly juvenile.

Dante Gabriel Rossetti: "Look in my face; my name is Might-have-been; I am also call'd No-more, Too-late, Farewell;" Barista: *Just writes 'dickhead' on the cup* Coming right up!

Libertarianism brain causes these people to think that their wealth is due entirely to their own genius, and the global web of soft power that the USA has worked for decades to establish is decorative. These dorks have no idea that without public universities and H1-B programmers, they are nothing.

so many examples of this; I would argue that a similar dynamic (and not one that occurs completely online) arises when assumption of the 'public intellectual' role incentivizes (legitimately competent) academic specialists to opine (less competently) outside their primary area of expertise

"Let the little ones come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14 #RaccoonJesus

It’s been wild to see so many headlines about the firings at the Joint Chiefs of Staff and none of them explicitly saying “Trump fired the one Black person and the one woman so he could have an all white male Joint Chiefs”

George Zimmerman and Kyle Rittenhouse are walking free! They're doing fucking speaking tours!

My roommate reminded me that this Bush era song existed and is- unfortunately- still VERY relevant.

Bostonians, if you see Nazis, you know what to do

Big protest coming to Stonewall National Monument in just an hour or two. If you are in the area, get down there, be active, show your disapproval of the removal of transgender people from all online websites for the Stonewall National Monument page!

It's also part of a longer historical pattern of extrajudicial violence encouraged by right wing politicians since the 1970s. George Tiller, a doctor who provided late term abortions in Wichita, was assassinated in 2009 while in church.

The NYPD and our criminal mayor accidentally Brady violating this guy out of a conviction because they can’t stop publicity hounding would absolutely be the most fitting end to the entire saga.

One aspect of doing a political purge of the military and civil service is you can't come back in afterwards and just revert to status quo ante policies. A counter-purge becomes a necessity before you can then restore usual norms and protections. The people he's installing can't be left in place.

huge if true

Beware the VTOLciraptor.

My siblings and I will refer to each other as “BROTHER!” and “SISTER!” In our best booming “hearty knight” voices. Sometimes add a “ho!” In there. “Ho brother!” “Ho sister! How goes it?” (My parents have a ton of their own, mostly stolen from comedy bits from before I was born.)

I am cry-howling

After a college student finally found a treatment that worked, the insurance giant decided it wouldn’t pay for the costly drugs. His fight to get coverage exposed the insurer’s hidden procedures for rejecting claims. (Published Feb. 2023)
