Don’t be a nice person…

I want to make a game about organizing and snowballing a rebellion until a fascist government is taken down. I wonder why.

A cool historical fact I learned today is that globally, but especially in the Western Christian tradition, regicide is historically pretty common - between the years 600 and 1980, approximately ~14% of Western monarchs was killed, or deposed and then executed, by their subjects.

I wish I knew of another mean to gain traction on social media than spewing caricaturally one sided takes on every hot topic.

The #QuebecGamesCelebration is an annual festival dedicated to celebrating Quebec’s vibrant video game industry❄️ The sale promotes the efforts of both indie & AAA developers who dedicate themselves to crafting engaging, immersive experiences for players around the world🌎 🔽

Anyone following me who's into traditional roguelikes? We just released our demo to Lost in Prayer. store.steampowered.com/news/app/284...

Tune in tomorrow at 2 pm EST for Lost In Prayer Demo Livestream on Twitch. @gheeyom.bsky.social misses doing livestreams so he will be back on Twitch to answer your questions about Lost In Prayer Demo and die trying to reach the end of the Demo content www.twitch.tv/ninedotsstudio

Casual reminder that a game having mixed reviews might not mean it's actually bad, it might mean that it's tailored close enough to your personal dream game preferences to actively put other prople off it

👋 Since our playtest in September, we’ve worked hard to have a demo ready for February, just in time for Steam Next Fest. Demo > Magic > Wishlists go brrr > Top of SNF when it starts > More Wishlists > Good Release (?) - IYKYK That was the plan, and our demo is launching on February 11th...

I see posts about how we need more external sources of funding to get back to how it was before and fix what feels like the collapse of our industry. Here's the thing: it doesn't work all that well. What we need is more money that comes from successful game developers, to promising game developers.

Today I've jumped between doing an overview of Lost in Prayer's art style overhaul and designing skill trees for Outward 2. Somebody pinch me, this is my daily life.

We have absolutely nothing to gain by discouraging people to start a business. Yes, it's really hard; even more likely to fail than to succeed. Funding is at a low point and discovery is hell. All the more reasons to offer tough advice. 2025 can either be a year of desperation or a year of courage.

Huh. This looks pretty fresh. So that's what our neighbours were working on all this time!

I feel like everyone on Earth is better at social media than me. I'm so tired of talking to a wall. Rebuilding from scratch on Bluesky is more daunting than I initially thought.

For many, "work ethics" means slaving away, doing too many hours, and treating work as #1 priority. To me, it should mean professionalism, efficiency, honesty and creating value instead of extracting it.

Think of everything we tried to solve the nazi problem, and what the only solution ended up being.

It was fun while it lasted, but we are already getting swarmed by bots here.

my bike was stolen last January. i contacted the police and told them that i had video evidence of the thief and a gps tag that said where it was. they shrugged it off and i just went and took the bike back myself with the help of a friend

Really excited to begin the search for a Chief Technical Officer to join the team at Arrowhead! Put on your technical wizard robe and hat and join up. Need as much signal boost as I possible can get on this one folks!

I'm looking at that gigantic 221 slides on the state of the industry by Matthew Ball and I have so many opinions. Wondering if I should do a stream where I just say my piece on every slide. What I would have to say about our industry and how it performed wouldn't be pretty.

Elon Musk is a good example of how terrible people become increasingly radicalized into the far right simply because the far right is a community that accepts cruel, terrible people. It's tempting to say Elon is going "mask off", but I'd wager Elon didn't know who Tommy Robinson was 5 years ago. 1/

Why do video games cost so much to make these days? A recent NYT article pinned bloated budgets on the graphical arms race, but that's only a small part of the equation. The real problem? Rampant mismanagement. This week's column is a spicy one: www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...

It’s pretty much all mismanagement. Adopting new tech prematurely? Mismanagement. Changing creative direction in production? Mismanagement. Iterating on content 3+ times? Mismanagement. Adding major features in production? Mismanagement. Poor planning, failure to follow plans - all mismanagement.

Games I've played during my parental leave: Romancing SaGa 2 Revenge of the Seven Metaphor Re Fantazio Oblivion Tales of Maj Eyal Caves of Qud Age of Wonders 4 Rise of the Ronin Vampire Survivor Final Fantasy 7 (the real one) Newborns can be a handful, but the off times are not too bad!

You do not, in fact, gotta hand it to MiHoYo azhdarchid.com/you-do-not-g...

A lot of gamers WANT the frustration of getting lost, if that's the cost of avoiding yellow painting. They very often value immersion more than convenience. The problem may lie in making games/missions that are so linear that if they don't go where you thought they should, they can't go anywhere.

Daddyyyyy, can we listen to Mega Man musiiiiic? I think I nailed this parenthood schtick.

Here's a reminder that the excellent Parasite Eve is a christmas themed video game.

My GOTY is Romancing SaGa 2. It was an easy pick.
