One way I heard it was that the DB system needed an NA (not available) value for year dates, and they chose 1875. The other way I heard it was that the Epoch for their calendar system was 1875-01-01, and 0 indicated NA.

But the ad is correct, and states a foundational truth of our justice system, for better or for worse.

With decent macros etc. assembler isn't that bad. One of my strangest episodes was the TI9900, which doesn't have a proper stack, so subroutine calling had to be done either by hand or by defining a 'call' macro. Plenty of registers, though, IIRC.

Apparently interdental picks or brushes have been shown to be as effective as flossing. I haven't flossed for years with full approval of dentist & hygienist. Consider asking yours about this.

I thought that the Germans literally did blame the Poles for the 1939 invasion, by manufacturing a false flag attack (Gleiwitz incident) that they framed as the casus belli.

It's a great idea in the same way that MAGA ever did or could ever make America g. again.

The Senate is the one body where old age should never alone be a barrier to membership. The name of the body and the titles of its members literally come from senex, the Latin word for “old man”. The body was so-named because of the still-valid traditional association between age and wisdom.

ICE in churches but not IRS? (Psst, DOGE: if you want a few extra billions in revenue, make churches pay their fair share of taxes!)

Trump appears to despise and plan to terminate every long-term American project, including that of creating a democratic republic operated under the rule of law.

Yes, the rule of law. Except when laws are bad, in which case civil disobedience has been the most successful way for the People to get them changed. Lest we forget, civil disobedience requires that criminal penalties be expected and accepted, unlike what Trump's outlaw gang expects or would accept

One thing Word does reasonably well is allowing you to define paragraph styles. That way, it's not pretty easy to switch between extra space following to indented. However, instead of double-lines, you're much better off defining how much extra space you want following paragraphs. Lessons learned.

Yes. The reason the insurrection clause is vital is that those meeting its criteria have demonstrated that they do not consider taking the oath of office as something limits their behavior. In other words, they are lying oath breakers. This is why must be disqualified from holding office.

I plan to use the same home-brew heuristic I've used for years to detect derivative, formulaic hack writing: reading a bit and making a judgment. Such works aren't necessarily unreadable, by the way, the same being true for works AI written in whole or in part.

This has been true since 2015. Trump is only the face of the problem. He has attracted the greater part of criticism that should have always been laser focused on the stupidity and cruelty of the corporate MAGA Republicans and their sorry collection of Trump wannabes and god-befuddled MAGAts.

Some dystopian fiction (ab)uses books as a central part of their plot. Consider Fahrenheit 451, The Book of the New Sun, The Diamond Age, We, even 1984.

The full cause of the crash will undoubtedly have multiple elements, but the only one without which the crash for sure wouldn't have happened is the altitude deviation by the helicopter. 200 feet was the maximum. The helicopter should have been at 100 or even lower, but was at 300+, same as the jet

I've tried having my POV character interact with a guru-like teacher who explains the fantasy bkgnd, and finding and reading an old book explaining it. Both ended up with gobs of too much telling. Currently trying to divide things up among several characters each of whom sees/senses aspects of it.

OK, burning paper is bad for the environment, but riots and assassinations seem rather disproportionate.
