To be fair almost every Canada fan had the same opinion on Binnington. He saved his best game (by far) for last.

Really weird emotions as a Flames fan…

Michigan is pretty good but any chance of trading it and a 3rd round pick for Hawaii?

There’s plenty to be outraged over these days. But for me, a quote from a coach who is quoting some other (unnamed) player making what I assume was a playful comment about the hockey dominance of Canada and the U.S. isn’t where that outrage should be focused.

Don’t forget that an effective introduction needs to remind the reader to “Like and subscribe”.

I think the key is that this isn’t just about Trump but also the significant portion of the U.S. electorate that put him in power. If they looked at everything he said and did over the past decade and said “I like that”, that trust is going to be very difficult to rebuild.

Commercial aviation safety is one of the best examples of the positive benefits that can be gained when industry and governments of multiple countries cooperate and coordinate for the greater good.

I still want to know how all of this plays out in practice. I.e. NORAD is still a thing. And I would assume it would take time to unwind more than 66 years of integration and cooperation on continental defence. E.g. military exchange programs where officers are posted in each country, etc.

The Overton Window has been moving at breakneck speeds. And that isn’t an accident; it’s part of the larger strategy. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overton...

Robins are pretty tame compared to a lot of other birds. Try dealing with magpies, blue jays, Canada geese, etc.

YMMV, but in the subreddits I frequent the top few responses are usually reliable. The questionable dreck usually gets downvoted pretty quickly.

With the caveat that the last time the most powerful countries in the world were all authoritarian states was hundreds of years ago. Long before modern warfare, weapons, and (most critically) nukes. Think about how the “endless war” of 1984 would look in a post-nuclear world.

It’s important to have leaders who know how to communicate properly. All the best policy in the world is useless without a critical mass of buy-in.

This is literally one of the reasons the Russian armed forces are such a mess. All the competent people were driven out (or killed) and replaced by incompetent sycophants. So they are left to try to win their battles based on brute manpower advantages.

The Overton Window has been moved so much due to Trump and premiers like Danielle Smith that Doug Ford suddenly looks like a reasonable “moderate” to a lot of people. Sad but true.

I’d be cautious about the blanket statements. A country of 40 million people doesn’t think as one. And we do have an odd history of eating our own for some reason (see: Bieber, Nickelback, Avril, etc. etc.).

As a neutral I always hope for a tight, competitive game. Preferably with a bunch of lead changes. Sadly, this has been one of the worst games of the playoffs.

Drake can be annoying but I still honestly don’t know what the feud was all about. But to be fair, I’ve never fully “understood” the concept of a hip hop feud to begin with.

I know a couple that’s been together for 20 years but originally met on the internet. He was American and she was Canadian. They decided to get married a year early in a civil ceremony to help speed up his permanent resident application. It’s hard.

I’m confused - Isn’t Trump opposed to drugs coming across the border to the U.S.? Or, as with every classic gangster, is he just upset he isn’t getting his cut?

You’re not wrong. But I feel for him. Gotta be brutal.

It’s really weird. I’d love to have a coffee with the folks (yes, they exist) in Calgary who voted for Nenshi and Gondek in the mayoral elections but the UCP in the provincial elections. It’s actually the main reason Smith wants to introduce parties at the municipal level.

Whenever I hear people complain about problems that should be easy to fix, I like to remind them that the ‘truly’ easy-to-fix problems are already fixed. It’s mostly Dunning-Kruger effect since most of those people don’t know enough to recognize how little they know.

I remember downloading low-resolution video clips of music videos. It would take like two hours but I’d play it over and over. The whole idea of “on-demand” media was new and exhilarating.
