Let's all wave the nuclear deterrence policy goodbye. nuclear countries can now attack nonnuclear ones without any repercussions whatsoever

To simplify it even more: russia told the US they will use intercontinental ballistic missile that might or might not have nuclear part and the US Embassy in Kyiv closed without telling the reason.
comment in response to post
Just to sum up for all my confused people here: russia has just normalized using the missiles that are supposed to carry nuclear weapons as long as you notify the US about it in advance so they can close the embassy without any further elaboration.

The timely aid is not only helping on the battlefield but also boosts the morale, the primary reasonšŸ‡ŗšŸ‡¦ managed to withstand in the first place. A lot of Ukrainians are feeling let down. We are not asking for boots on the ground, we are asking for the means to protect ourselves and the rest of Europe

Come fall 2023 when the US couldnā€™t pass a bill to help Ukraine. We here think it was a breaking point and we still havenā€™t recovered from it being delayed so much. Most people in Ukraine believe the war might have been over if we actually kept the pace we picked up in the beginning.

Case in point: Ukraine was advancing in 2022 regaining most of the territories that were captured previously. Thereā€™re a lot of factors that attributed to that but the main one is definitely aid being provided quickly and in the promised amounts.

Thank you for such a broad reply, it perfectly sums up what I was trying to say šŸ™ Itā€™s not so much ā€œwhatā€ rather than ā€œwhenā€ and ā€œhow muchā€. The main reasons Ukraine is not advancing is any help that we are promised is provided late or not in the promised amount.

How is stopping russia in Ukraine without actually sending its own people to die not a good bargain? Iā€™m genuinely curious.

russia signed a document promising not to invade Ukraine (and without any exceptions that would justify it). Other parties signed a document that promised to support Ukraine if a nuclear state attacks. So far, itā€™s russia breaking the agreement and West (kind of) sticking to agreement, thatā€™s it

As a Ukrainian, from our prospective itā€™s only boots on the ground or full military support. I donā€™t appreciate everyone sucking to russian propaganda about ā€œwar with NATOā€ when NATO hasnā€™t even showed up yet. Everything Ukraine gets now is a direct response to russia invading.

Unpopular opinion: such decisions shouldnā€™t be announced publicly, it only benefits russia. Every day Iā€™m thankful Ukraine didnā€™t notify anyone about Kursk operation, otherwise it would be on the front pages before it even started with the doomsday headlines ā€œweā€™re all going to dieā€

Just to be clear, this is not to say that I am not actually safer when I go to the Western countries than POC, I recognize the struggle completely. But putting Ukrainian on the same level of ā€œprivilegeā€ as literally any other white person in the world is a bit bonkers.
comment in response to post
Once I joked that Ukrainians are ā€œoff whiteā€ - white enough to be blamed for the white privilege by POC but not white enough to be recognized as equal by the colonial powers like France, Spain, GB etc (Iā€™m still proud of this joke to this day ngl lol)

Being Ukrainian is reading the first two lines and adding ā€œin real lifeā€ lol

ā€œBut they will nuke youā€. Iā€™ll take the possibility any time of the day if what we get in return is the chance to actually survive as a nation. And if the world is ok to let the whole nation to go extinct to appease the bully, Ukrainians are not the problem here, just saying.

All my colleagues yesterday were like ā€œbut arenā€™t you afraid of escalation?ā€. Like what, russia will invade Ukraine? Will bomb us with no mercy? Will torture, rape, kill civilians? Raze cities to the ground? Babes, there is almost nothing they havenā€™t done to us already.

Come today, France clarified they didnā€™t allow anything, the article about Storm Shadows is removed at all and media reports we can only use ATACMS in Kursk region and only on North Koreans. As usual, nothing is simple for us and god forbid we have a chance to actually defeat russia.

Sure babe as long as it helps you fill that big dark hole caused by momma not loving you enough. Of course going after people who dislike you to the places where you are not welcomed is a sign of a healthy fulfilled person.

Of course, itā€™s very likely the US will forbid it again in January when Trump comes but at least we have about two months to defend ourselves to the best of our abilities. russians have already relocated their aircraft out of range but the munition depots I think are still something we can reach šŸ’ŖšŸ»

What the fuck are you doing here then?? Echo chamber? Exactly! And we enjoy the company of the decent people, why do you have to come in if you are so sarcastic about the platform? Shoo, with its temperature room IQ people is the other way šŸšŖ

Summer is a very busy season and since itā€™s only possible to go by land now, it does take a lot of time. Most common reasons are people traveling by bus (takes ages to check all of them and their baggage) and trucks going through customs. However, if you go by train it takes no more than 30 minutes

To sum up, it takes me 30+ hours to get to the place that I would otherwise get to in 3-6 hours, not to mention itā€™s definitely much more expensive. On the other hand, Iā€™m extremely (!) grateful that itā€™s possible at all considering everything, my gratitude to UAF is endless for making it possible.

Whatā€™s also disturbing - theyā€™ve been targeting Kyiv Dam. Would they been successful, most of Kyiv would have gotten flooded.
