America will never recover from the shame it has brought upon itself this week.

Exciting to watch Elon Musk pivot so elegantly from making his cars toxic to the demographic most likely to consider one, to making his Starlink a national security risk for all the governments who might have wanted it.

this is called “being disappeared,” ask your Argentine friends about it

I know I'm a bit paranoid by nature but given how many stories we've already had about random tourists getting detained in ICE facilities, I.....think I'd struggle to go back to the US while Trump is still president? which makes me feel insane but also they really have gone insane there, so

Musk told the Polish FM, a long-standing conservative ally of the US, "be quiet small man". What I find so fascinating about Trump, Vance and Musk's verbal abuse of Ukrainians & Polish officials etc, is: can you imagine them speaking like this to a Russian or Chinese official?

Dude was visiting his fiancé, who lives in Vegas. His English isn’t good so he misunderstood the border goons when they asked where he lives, he said Vegas, they took him away for questioning without a translator and now he’s been in a jail for two weeks.

What a different world we could have.

When Trump was sworn in, Elon Musk's corporations were under more than 32 investigations conducted by at least 11 federal agencies. Most of the cases are now closed or likely to be closed soon, and the federal agencies are being defanged by DOGE. Funny how that works, huh?

“Parliaments with a higher number of female leaders are more likely to increase equality, achieve higher economic growth, and experience lower levels of corruption." @pimlicat.bsky.social

I note with interest right-wing media's total absence of any concerns about prominent BBC presenter Armstrong expressing his highly political opinions. As was always perfectly clear to many of us, the problem was not that Lineker had views, but the fact they didn't approve of his views.

“Have Reform peaked too soon? Timing is everything. By doing well in some polls, people have started to treat them more seriously, to question them about policy, to look at other prominent people, at party structure, to look beyond Farage. And there is nothing there, beyond Farage.”

Tusk is really rising to the occasion www.nytimes.com/2025/03/07/w...

After Elon Musk has been insinuating to turn off Starlink in Ukraine, Poland‘s Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski is reminding Musk that Poland is paying for it, and he is making clear that if Musk follows through that Poland will abandon Starlink altogether for being an unreliable service.

The women's march is about to start. ♀️ The sign reads, 'women against the regime'. Day 101 of #GeorgiaProtests

GREAT IDEA💡💡👇👇Good Trouble👇👇 We need to make & print these posters for all the Republican Representatives in every district Please get active & make on your own or .share this idea with your local Democrat offices & see if they will make these Volunteers can place them everywhere #SaveDemocracy

There's no end to it, is there. Every day, every hour, another concerted effort to sabotage and sacrifice Ukraine. The idea that Trump might offer something even approximating an acceptable peace is increasingly impossible to maintain.

And I wonder whether the Democratic members of congress will do anything other than hold up little paddles saying things like "oh dear" and "this isn't very good". bsky.app/profile/pete...

Many of the scientists that the Trump administration is defunding and persecuting will be working on strategically important technologies and research areas. The UK and other European countries should urgently establish programmes to bring those researchers here.

Indeed the large increase in defence spending in WWII was funded at least in part by high income taxes on the rich

NEW: UK, Germany and France issue joint statement on "catastrophic" humanitarian situ in Gaza, warning Israel could be in breach of international law by halting entry of aid. "Humanitarian aid should never be contingent on a ceasefire or used as a political tool."

NEW: Multiple reports of Russian missiles pouring into Ukraine tonight, targeting civilians. The US has shut off the intelligence Ukraine needs to protect itself. This hotel in the southern city of Kryvyi Rih took a direct hit. Trump has the blood on his hands of every Ukrainian casualty tonight.

Over the course of a week, the UK debate has completely changed. Just days ago, the right was still trying to use Trump to humiliate Starmer. Now, after the Zelenskyy meeting & Vance's nonsense, there's a consensus against the US administration. British Trump supporters utterly marginalised.

Trudeau is absolute class.

There is no level of dumb this man cannot reach.

Fuck me sideways.

Dear Europe: You are next on the hit list. Good arguments, preemptive concessions, appeals to friendship, and flattery will not protect you. Discard those fantasies and prepare to hit back hard.

Mandelson really is utterly fucking useless. What on earth is he doing out there. www.politics.co.uk/news/2025/03...

Whatever comes of it, if anything, the fact that the UK and France under Starmer and Macron have managed to overcome their countries’ recent differences and work together at the centre of a European and allied effort to bring peace to Ukraine is properly heartening in bleak times

This unspeakable piece of shit has been sucking up to Putin since the early 'don't-poke-the Russian-bear' days of the invasion. It seems he's now set on torching his own domestic reputation as part of his slavish devotion.

Jesus Christ. When was the last time you heard anyone say something like this?

words I never imagined writing in my lifetime..... General Sir Richard Shirreff, the former Nato deputy supreme allied commander in Europe, has told Times Radio: "I think we have to assume, after the events of the last 10 days, that we cannot in any way count on America as an ally"

It's abuser talk. And anyone that says it, including those half-hearted bastards who defend Trump without really committing to it, deserves the damage to their reputation that follows.

Yet more evidence emerges of US Russian collusion as Trump & Musk backed Romanian candidate is arrested as a Putin puppet with an arsenal $10m in cash and a ticket to Moscow. Oh yeah and a young DOGE agent is the grandson of an ex KGB spy. Never boring is it? 👇🏼 youtu.be/HhHHjWwW11k

Weasel words obviously, but really quite important. Friday really starting to feel like a breaking point.

Yeah, this is political correctness gone mad, I know, but I don't think you should have to scroll through neo-Nazi content to get travel information.

🇵🇱🇪🇺 "The paradox is that 500 million Europeans are asking 300 million Americans for help to protect them from 140 million Russians," — Tusk ❗️"We must rely on ourselves, fully aware of our own potential and believing that we are a world power," he said.

Woah - was not expecting to see that from the Daily Mail… …but spot on.

Mike Myers, Canadian legend, on SNL tonight.

From The Guardian. We need more of this. A hug is worth a thousand words and more. I am no big Starmer fan, but all credit to him for showing and sharing his humanity with this incredible leader outside no.10 today.

"It's not so much that the world has changed as that the world has finally realized how much the world had already changed. For those for whom the penny hadn't already dropped, it's dropped now. And my overriding feeling is renewed anger about the decision to leave the EU." @pimlicat.bsky.social

Also the collective GDP of the EU + UK + Norway is around $24 trillion compared to $2 trillion for Russia. We have vastly more resources if we choose to use them.
