It's coffee years until it's coffin years. ☕⚰️ I like ghosts, ETs, archaeology, snack foods and naps. Other stuff too, but those are pretty good. Mother to a toddler, fiancee to an exceptionally tolerant man.

The audacity... She sits on me of her own accord and then looks inconvenienced... 😭 #cats

Word of the day….

Ernest Hemingway once said, “In our darkest moments, we don’t need advice.” What we truly need is the power of human connection: a quiet presence, a gentle touch, or the smallest gesture that reminds us we’re not alone.

I guess I'm definitely in my 30s because I'm losing my mind over the joke in this magician's handout pamphlet.

Something wonderful for the weekend! About 40,000 years ago, during the #IceAge, an ancient artist skilfully sculpted this tiny head of a cave lion from mammoth ivory. It is one of the World’s oldest known works of figurative art. 📷 by me #Archaeology

Reposting into the 🧪 feed for laughs. Blue check too!

That's it. I will not stay at a hotel that doesn't offer a breakfast owl and bed dolphin ever again.* *I was going to add in the 'comfortable sheep' but then decided, as a NZer that wasn't the best idea.

What about the basket makes them so angry? 😭 It's not baby jail, it's not timeout, they choose this fate... #cats

Two stages of writing: 1) This shouldn't take too long 2) Oh no

Sometimes the best howls are lazy 😂

My 3YO after insisting we watch a cartoon episode w/ a ghost that we've seen 1000 times and he loves: No! I don't like ghost! Me, whose brain and mouth aren't connected: You don't like ghosts? Are you even my child? 3YO: No.

(starting a constructive dialogue) Listen dumbass,

I had 4 days off and by the end of that time I was thinking about creative pursuits, maybe even getting involved in my community. Thank god that's over now

"Accessory after the fact" You mean helping a friend in need?

“Hey, honey! A new *helleristnings-skip* from Norway just dropped! Aaand it’s a big 'un!”

A pair of beautiful #Roman glass cups, in a bluey-green glass with white & gold 'snaking' decoration. Found near Köln (Germany), they're a lovely example of the glassware made by skilled craftsmen on the Rhine - and absolutely do not look their 1700+ years of age! AncientBlueSky

Here are some photos - all captured by Felix Petersson/Swedish Radio:

Publication alert! The long, strange journey of Viking-age ringed pins Thrilled that my contribution to History Scotland's special issue on the Making of Scotland (Winter 2024) made it to the cover! Out on newsstands now, and for digital purchase at www.mymagazinesub.co.uk/history-scot...

A 7th century carved Pictish symbol stone which was discovered in 1936 during excavations at the Knowe of Burrian - a broch at Netherbrough, Harray, in the Orkney Isles. Now part of the collections at Orkney Museum in Kirkwall. 📸 My own. #FindsFriday #Archaeology #Orkney

Yesterday, I had a chance to revisit the rune stone of Växjö Cathedral. It is dated to c.1000, & the translation on the nearby information plaque runs accordingly: "Tyke - Tyke Viking - erected this stone in memory of Gunnar, Grim's son. May God help his soul".

@nuekerk.bsky.social You're up.

These are the (incredible) contents of a burial on the island of Aegina. The jewellery dates to between 1850-1550 BC & is Minoan craftsmanship. It is of the finest quality - dazzling, delicate & breathtaking in equal measure. 🏛️BM 📷mine 🏺 #AncientBlueSky

#FindsFriday and it’s a straight up classic: the Sutton Hoo ship burial. Dating from the first quarter of the 7th century, it’s thought to be the grave of Raedwald, an East Anglian king. Here, the world famous helmet, shoulder clasps, belt buckle & purse lid. 🏛️BM 📷mine

Anyway. An archaeology break with a thread ! I want you to look at this lovely photo which belongs to the National Museums Northern Ireland. It's a turf travois up in 19th c Glendun. Now zoom on the harness ( welcome to my life ). Notice anything ? It's all straw

There's nothing happening, Noel is just very cute.

Pat revels in being the biggest possible octopus in the smallest possible ocean.

If archaeology was radio, the Tollund Man would be Radio Classic. One of the best preserved natural mummies in the world, the Tollund Man died around 405–384 BC during the pre-Roman Iron Age. His body was buried under 2 m of peat and arranged in the fetal position.

Thinking about that time my coworker exclaimed, from the other side of the building, "Magicians are real!?"... Wizards. She was thinking of wizards. #workwoes

Imagine waking up to this every morning... Resist the fallacy that life in the past was miserable! There's a lot that's tough about today too, and our ancient ancestors lives were filled with just as much beauty, magic, and joy as our own. Prehistoric ≠ primitive ✊

If there ever was a photo of "vacant stare", this is it folks. Nothing happening behind the scenes.

Sometimes I draw, so expect that when you least expect it.

"God has a plan" Ok well premeditation kicks this up to first degree

I'm old enough to remember when a computer didn't automatically connect to the internet, it used to make a screaming noise. We should have listened.

This is how social media should be! Excited to be here!

My new door mat came. 🖤

Throw back to that time Boston reminded me I'm from a small town and the world is baffling.
