Elon Musk is losing his mind over protests at Tesla dealerships. Why? His fortune is collapsing. Nearly all of it is Tesla stock. You know what to do, America. If you want to save our government from a coup, apparently the rebels’ weak spot is protesting and boycotting Tesla.

What Trump & Musk both believe and their actions betray is that black people are inferior to white people and none of them are qualified to hold any job they consider prestigious or important. That’s it. There’s no need to decode DEI any further.

🧵 Here's what @stephrschwartz.bsky.social and I have been fretting about: Crackdowns on immigrants, mass deportation, and internment camps (and the suffering they cause) are recurrent in US history. But this time, it's also one of the Trump admin's power grabs. 1/ www.politico.com/news/magazin...

BREAKING: Elon Musk's rocket explosion nearly hit a commercial flight. This kind of content is being downranked on X. Please share it here. This is so dangerous.

Hei Bluesky! ✌️ First post on here and I would appreciate some input! @mariannedahl.bsky.social and I are organizing a PhD course in October on mass mobilization and regime change. I've started on a list of movies (which I think) are relevant to the course. (1/5)

Dear Europe: You are next on the hit list. Good arguments, preemptive concessions, appeals to friendship, and flattery will not protect you. Discard those fantasies and prepare to hit back hard.

I don't think there's precedent for this level of open corruption at the federal level, certainly not in the last 100+ years.

A short set of thoughts about the collapse of US lifesaving foreign assistance, the role of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and his current position.

OTD in 2022 we bombed the Babi Yar holocaust memorial. We are denazifying Ukraine by bombing holocaust memorials and killing holocaust survivors. Ukraine ofc deserves this for provoking us by putting their border near our army.

Foreign press coverage of our collapse into competitive authoritarianism has been vastly better than that of our own press & is the mirror image of @brendannyhan.bsky.social's "What would you say if you saw this happening in another country?" We <are> the other country & they see us for who we are.

Very happy that our paper (w/ @dziblatt.bsky.social & E Dinas) has been accepted @bjpols.bsky.social . We've seen the center right increasingly adopt far-right rhetoric. Our experiment in 🇩🇪 finds that this erodes anti-prejudice norms *more* than when the far-right employs similar rhetoric. 1/3

old Soviet joke for our times: Guy stops by the newsstand every day, scans the front page, doesn’t buy the paper. One day the vendor asks what he’s up to. Guy says: “looking for an obituary.” Vendor says “those are towards the back of the paper, comrade.” Guy says: “not the one I’m looking for.”

“If you’re running in fear of your own voters, there is nothing America can do for you.” - JD Vance, Munich, February 2024.

Also worth noting that the public consistently overestimates spending for some of these things, such as foreign aid. If you tell them what percentage is actually spend, they tend to adjust their opinions.

The GOP legislators aren't "cowards." They're collaborators.

If you think that Europe is doomed, you’re not paying attention. Wrote a recap of the latest developments and call me a hopeless Europtimist but I think Europe+ (including Canada) isn’t doing too bad in terms of offering Ukraine an actual perspective for the future. With or without the US.

I've had a long-running thread on twitter on the real migration crisis (not enough migrants). Will start posting here... but for the earlier 1,000-plus examples, see here: x.com/charlesjkenn...

Fra demokratisk opplysning til techbrokratisk formørkelse.

ser ut som jeg må poste denne nok en gang

Garry Kasparov is right, I’m afraid: they are breaking everything so quickly even though it’s unpopular, because they never expect to face real elections again. www.theatlantic.com/internationa...

Part of how we're rushing toward the abyss - the lawbreaking is so widespread that they may be unwilling to relinquish power voluntarily for fear of (rightfully) facing prosecution

As of today, a new term has entered our language. A “rubio” is a spineless lump of nothing. Example: Don’t be such a rubio.

Here I react to the shameful behavior of American leaders and media toward the Ukrainian president. No doubt there were more, but I saw five failures on our side: of hospitality, decency, democracy, strategy, and independence. Please watch and share. snyder.substack.com/p/five-failu...

The Trump Administration Said These Aid Programs Saved Lives. It Canceled Them Anyway. "The move consigns untold numbers of the world’s poorest children, refugees and other vulnerable people to death... Local authorities have already begun estimating a death toll in the hundreds of thousands."

This is banana republic level. Was the fall of the Roman Empire this … stupid? www.cnn.com/2025/02/28/p...

BIG NEW STORY: The Trump Administration Said These Aid Programs Saved Lives. It Canceled Them Anyway. by @annamaria.bsky.social and Brett Murphy

NEW: Senator Marshall (R-KS) RUNS AWAY, fleeing his own town hall after being asked about DOGE firing Veterans. MAKE HIM GO VIRAL.

'Did you even say thank you?'

Zelensky is a wartime leader watching his people suffer and die under Russian attacks every day. To be lectured and lied to by Trump and Vance, as they defend the war criminal dictator committing these atrocities, is unimaginable agony. An everlasting shame for America.

"The scene at the White House yesterday took my breath away. I would never have believed that we would ever have to defend Ukraine from the United States" German President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier www.yahoo.com/news/german-...

HEY EVERYONE REMEMBER WHEN TRUMP WAS IMPEACHED FOR DENYING AID TO UKRAINE BECAUSE HE WANTED ZELENSKY TO LIE AND SAY BAD THINGS ABOUT BIDEN AND ZELENKSY WOULDN’T DO IT? Maybe literally one fucking American newspapers could mention this in their, “think pieces,” about what happened yesterday.

It's more than a little bizarre that the press was more vocal and judgmental about Biden's Afghanistan withdrawal than the current unscheduled rapid disassembly of our entire democracy and civil service.

Ukraine is Europe! We stand by Ukraine. We will step up our support to Ukraine so that they can continue to fight back the agressor. Today, it became clear that the free world needs a new leader. It’s up to us, Europeans, to take this challenge.

Choose your champion:

I will never forget the photo of Zelenskyy’s face after he saw Russia’s war crimes in Bucha in 2022. He seemed to age years in an afternoon. Watching him constantly cross the world asking for aid that should have been thrown at him is one of the deepest shames of our age.

3. Norge må gå foran med vår gassprofitt. Om nødvendig hele potten.

Are. You. Kidding. Me.

One more thought to add to this thread: there have been many moments already where Bush, Obama, and now Biden would be justified in speaking out jointly. Maybe the last true fire alarm. This is such a moment. It may not do much, in fact probably won't. But it's line up on the sides of history time.

Pretty basic: don't trade away stuff when you don't know you are going to get stuff in return. One does not need IR Theory and all of the stuff on reciprocity and credible commitments to undrestand this. However, basic IR 101: bullying doesn't work much. Oh, and Zelenskyy has agency, FFS.

who told this pampered asshole he has the right to speak to anyone like this?
