I'm seeing really worrying stuff about a proposed amendment to the Data Bill targeting trans people. www.reddit.com/r/LabourUK/s... www.instagram.com/p/DJMIkCHIz0... @goodlawproject.bsky.social @nonbinarybarrister.bsky.social @robinmoirawhite.bsky.social

If the concern about men in women's toilets was real, we'd be hearing a lot more about this, wouldn't we?

The UK Data (Use and Access) Bill is currently being debated in Parliament and anti-trans campaigners are trying to amend the Bill so it requires public authorities to collect data about 'biological sex' (see below). 🚨 THIS NEEDS TO BE OPPOSED 🚨 publications.parliament.uk/pa/bills/cbi...

Geographers! Please join 300 of us — at every career stage — who are urging the Royal Geographical Society to reaffirm its commitment to trans inclusion in the face of Supreme Court ruling, and to oppose the EHRC’s interim update. Sign by WED 30 April 1700 GMT docs.google.com/document/u/0...

I wrote about the Supreme Court decision, and how the anti-trans movement represents a microcosm of how the UK is run by a media-political elite via captured institutions and constant undemocratic stitch-ups novaramedia.com/2025/04/29/h...

⚠️ Toilet segregation: an issue for everyone The UK’s EHRC has advised that toilet access should be restricted by sex, but in practice this means problems, and not just for trans people By Jennie Kermode @jenniekermode.bsky.social

Attendees at the #RDconf last Saturday voted on an emergency motion to show their opposition to the Supreme Court ruling on the definition of a woman. Read the motion below 👇 BMA-wide policy is set at the Annual Representative Meeting (ARM) in June 2025.

Looking for a good explainer of the current SC/ESRC situation that I can pass on to local businesses who want to know that they aren't doing anything 'illegal' by allowing trans people to use the right loos? Ideally something by a lawyer, aimed at businesses, rather than for a trans audience.

Useful briefing from a barrister on the current legal position re trans people and public loos. www.instagram.com/reel/DI_xmUU...

Really interesting point- it's being argued that EHRC guidance effectively limits freedom of association.

This update would appear to be incompatible with trans people’s rights under the ECHR, given the attempt to force trans people into spaces inappropriate for them. That appears to me to be a potential breach of Articles 3, 8 and 14 of the Convention. www.equalityhumanrights.com/media-centre...

How are you supposed to get a gender recognition certificate, which requires you to have lived in your acquired gender, now the Supreme Court has said you are not allowed to live in your acquired gender?

Labour's new policy - of humiliating trans people by requiring them constantly to self-identify - we believe puts the UK (again) in breach of its obligations under the European Convention on Human Rights and will seek a declaration of incompatability. goodlaw.social/0r6l

New guidance from so-called EHRC on trans people and toilets released late Friday night. Says trans people must use loos aligned with 'biological sex'. Follow @goodlawproject.bsky.social for legal updates. www.equalityhumanrights.com/media-centre...

Trans people and allies, here's an urgent letter to Parliament you may wish to co-sign. ***Deadline is 7pm tonight*** Details and links in thread. 🧵

Let this sink in - Rachel Reeves and Keir Starmer are choosing to push 50,000 children into poverty - but won't ask multi-millionaires and billionaires to pay a little bit more tax. Absolutely sickening.

DWP benefit cuts to push over 250,000 people into poverty - including 50,000 kids The damning conclusion is contained in the Department for Work and Pension's own analysis published after Chancellor Rachel Reeves delivered the Spring Statement www.mirror.co.uk/news/politic...

Becky Burke of Book Island (a picture book publisher in the UK founded by my fellow Tokarczuk translator Greet Pauwelijn) was "detained" by ICE at the Canadian border on 2/28. Her father asked that her story be shared in case someone can help her. He writes:

It's genuinely hard to keep track of how many other countries have recently reviewed trans healthcare for kids and come up with literally the polar opposite of the "Cass Review" Australia, Canada, France, Poland and now Germany, Austria and Switzerland www.erininthemorning.com/p/new-german...

A friend included this anti-acknowledgement section on her PhD thesis. She also added the proposition: “Systematic bullying and undermining of girls and women in STEM starts early on and is the reason why they do not stay in science and related fields.” Absurd we still need to go through this 🧪👩‍🔬

Few things are as pure as the joy of a 14yo with a bad case of the Sunday scaries who's just remembered it's half term. 😍

Really enjoying this analysis of the current political situation from Professor Wendy Brown- particularly struck by her comments on the impact of a sense of 'futurelessness' on the rise of authoritarian strongman politics. www.opendemocracy.net/en/podcasts/...

Took my teenager to see Dear Evan Hansen @mktheatre.bsky.social tonight. Neither of us were familiar with the plot. It was a great production and we both absolutely loved it, but we are EMOTIONALLY DESTROYED 😂. #DEHUKTOUR
