Memorable quote: "We now have free contraception in my province. And if that doesn't work, we have $10/day daycare!" #CUPESK2025 #skpoli

Memorable quote: "People sign up to be an EA worker, not an MMA fighter." #CUPESK2025 #skpoli

John Brady McDonald: "Indigenous people do probably 90% of the work around Truth & Reconciliation" #CUPESK2025 #skpoli

Day one of #CUPESK2025 is off and running. Great energy in the room!

Where do I sign up to vote for Jean Chretien? #NoMerciNoMercy

Mayor of LA: someone who is good at the economy please help me budget this. my city is dying

I fully believe that Trump is a Russian asset & he sees Canada the way Putin sees Ukraine. I hope Trudeau & our leaders are realising the unthinkable has to be considered & planned for given that the insane people running the US right now are no longer playing by traditional rules & norms.

Americans should be the ones saying sorry to Canadians.

This.

That feeling when you try to cheap out a bit on an expensive holiday by buying breakfast foods for your room but end up paying $13 for a box of granola bars! #WatchTheLabels #IStudiedEnglishNotMath #NoTariffNeeded

We’re off. Now, only question is do I take a symbolic crap when we’re over the US since they keep crapping on everyone else? ;-)

“If Roosevelt had told Churchill to sue for peace on any terms with Adolf Hitler and to fork over Britain’s coal reserves to the United States in exchange for no American security guarantees, it might have approximated what Trump did to Zelensky.” www.nytimes.com/2025/02/28/o...

I am the oldest person here.

Wait - I like Connor McDavid *and* Jordan Binnington today?!? #HockeyTwilightZone

I think we might know where all the missing Dem ballots went This is Ethan Shaotran. He's one of Musk's DOGE takeover hackers 2 yrs ago he won the Berkeley AI Hackathon But in 2000 won the HackGT7 with a ballot altering program called BallotProof Here's the deep dive that he couldn't scrub....

Had someone who was new to the library place a hold then show up the next day expecting it to be there already. "Sorry, it hasn't arrived yet." "What, you aren't like Amazon Prime?"

Me after gorging on appetizers and chips tonight…

We didn’t go to US once during Trump v 1.0. We went a few times during Biden’s run. Now conflicted as have free Vegas trip with flights and hotel to use in next two years. Will likely go but spend minimal. :-(

It's a small sample size but I've talked to a handful of small town Sask folks who normally vote Conservative provincially & federally who sound impressed w/ Mark Carney as a potential Liberal Leader. I think Trump's tariffs did more damage to Pierre Poilievre than to anything else in Canada!

My dog sat on my can of pop to try to stop me from going back to work after lunch!

We can't let workers pay the price for this fight. It's time to fight for our country, together: www.ndp.ca/stand-up-for...

Charlie and Jagmeet are right This is why privatizing liquor sales is a bad idea. This is why the Liberal and Conservative giveaways to corporations hurt Canada and hurt workers crown corporations help Canada FIGHT BACK

Even if the game hadn’t been postponed, the optics of the Flames playing in LA right now with massive wildfires raging isn’t great!

Anybody else think Trump invading Canada is a real possibility? No, just me? Okay, carry on… #Doomscrolling #RedDawnButWithPoutine #Wolverines

I called Andrew Scheer to replace Stephen Harper right after he resigned. Now I'm going to take a long shot guess again & say Marc Garneau is going to end up as Liberal Party Leader. (I also thought Mark Kelly would be Kamala's VP pick so maybe I just have a thing for astronauts & space cadets?)

Every time someone says "proroguing Parliament", I hear "perogying Parliament" and I think that could probably catch on in the prairies more widely! #TrudeauResigns #Canada

See you next year! #UltimateDadJoke #AlmostMidnight

126 years ago, an Italian anarchist named Luigi assassinated the Austrian empress. Why? He said, "Because I am an anarchist, because I am poor, because I love the workers and I desire to see the death of the rich".

What are the most dangerous kind of canoes? Volcanoes. I didn't make this up, but it has me questioning my pronunciation of everything.

Not sustainable….

Not sure when it happened but I find my life has just become a repeating count down to the next big holiday: Summer (camping) Winter (Christmas) Spring (Tropical Holiday if we can swing it) Rinse, repeat. And now that Christmas is over, the countdown is on for Isla Mujeres in March!

Give "Control Salt Delete" kid a medal you cowards

As always my position on political violence is show me a state with no army, police or prisons and I'll consider the possibility of a non violent politics, until then politics *is* violence and the only considerations are tactical.

Yeah, but crickets. 😡

Possibly most embarrassing “time to lose some weight” story ever. I was at a branch yesterday and a colleague was checking out the array of book-themed pins I have on my hoodie. “I had a Dr. Seuss one but it fell off” I say.

Not sure what Blue Sky is “for” yet so here’s a pic of my dog running away with the “drying towel” we keep by the door for after he’s outside in the snow.

This moment in Bluesky is a great example of how joy itself can be defiance and resistance. We are just hanging out, shitposting, being silly, happy, and normal. It is being treated as if it is transgressive, opting out of the endless negativity. Because in a way, it is. Joy is my favorite weapon.

So this is pretty cool: I think I’m the first national news correspondent to switch my chyron social handle from X to Bluesky. 💪🏽
