I really can’t second this recommendation strongly enough, it’s one of a very small number of movie scenes I can’t even talk about without struggling not to cry

what if we didn’t turn photos of Musk into memes? what if, since he’s made it clear that one of the greatest desires of the withered and howling void where his heart should be is to “become meme,” we at least deny him that? also i hate his stupid face so much stop making me look at it

That and “I believe in the systematic murder of babies and children.”

LET’S HEAR IT FOR EMILY GODDAMN HUGHES

1. This is the water 2. And this is the well. 3. Drink full, and descend. 4. The horse is the white of the eyes 5. and dark within.

I don’t want to sound like an asshole but I’m genuinely befuddled learning that people a) younger and more online than my parents or b) who aren’t assholes themselves at any point knew who this fucking guy was and didn’t think that he sucked

in retrospect I'd rephrase "combative" to "antagonistic" but imo this holds up

if you want to understand the values that can save this country, look up your local addiction recovery meeting and go listen to people

This is a real pretending-Bluesky-is-old-Twitter request but: I’m looking for two tickets to the NT Live screening of The Importance of Being Earnest tonight at the Coolidge Corner Cinema, if anyone in the Boston area has tickets but can’t use them.

for god’s sake let us sit upon the ground and talk about nothing in particular, nice stuff probably

mostly I think this stuff is silly (I was born here, moved away when I was in kindergarten, moved back when I was 18, I’ve lived here 20+ contiguous years, you tell me) but lately idk I feel protective of the romantic notion of NYC as a place where ppl go to start a new life & invent a new self

Insanely good shit. Pick up a copy today especially if you're into Lovecraft, are trans, hate big tech, and love your wife. Dark, dystopian but also uplifting in all the right ways. Can't wait to see what Mattie does next, and will be re-reading Boys Weekend over and over again in the meantime.

Vera Drew's ALL THAT JAZZ

For folks in DC with animal pals

It’s so much easier not to feel compassion for these people because they wouldn’t feel it for you. It’s easier and it feels much better in the moment. I think this is one of those many inconvenient cases where the harder, less comfortable thing is also the right one.
