evergreen intersection of social psychology and politics

Me trying to sum up the last few weeks of Diamond chaos at #PublishersWeekly: www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/...

“It’s been a weird couple of days” -me every couple of days

The trip begins for Abby on this double-page spread... This was my idea, not in the script. How could I change YOUR perception of the reading experience? This was my solution, designing the spread so you'd 'tip' the page accordingly as you read, orchestrating the positioning of balloons...

newest layer of my “to read” pile features HOX/POX and some non-fiction about pre-colonial Philippines

If any non-Americans want to know what to read to understand American health insurance industry and how our healthcare system works, Kafka’s The Trial isn’t a bad starting place.

Dune has the same plot as the Westminster Dog Show: After generations of careful breeding, we have produced this perfect little freak of nature and now it has behavioral issues

Gladiator 2 is the worst movie in the Gladiator series but only the 3rd worst Planet of the Apes movie

I owned copies of Alex + Ada (Jonathan Luna, Sarah Vaughn) because the simple visual grammar and adult storyline (sci-fi + romance) make it an easy starting place for adults who feel like they don’t know ::how:: to read comics. Again, I never loaned this series out so it’s been deposited at my LCS

Until December 2nd, I'm hosting a "Black Friday" sale on SKTCHD, with all plans being 50% off for new/returning subscribers when you use the code "BlackFriday2024" on check out. If you sign up for the annual plan, it's less than $1.50/month for the year! Get on it! sktchd.com/subscriptions

“Also, if digital copies are considered to be in print, nothing will ever go out of print, as long as there are computers” 🔥 this is fine 🔥

Just an FYI and a reminder. Alt Text isn't like a caption. It is for visually impaired people. A "screen reader" reads the alt text to them, so it should be descriptive text. If it's a verbal meme, you should enter the text of the meme. If it's a visual joke, you should explain the joke.

I made my first Starter Pack, and as you should expect, it is very Black. go.bsky.app/N2nLMMU

Remember in the movie “Aliens” when no one listened to the woman and then everyone died? That’s what the vibe feels like right now.

OOC: I love the culture of using alt text here but I've seen some dubious advice about how to write it. Here's a great article on how to write quality alt text: accessibility.huit.harvard.edu/describe-con.... Also, it's always a great idea to ask people who use screen readers for their perspective!

This stack (original Bendis run on Ultimate Spider-Man) was a great read when I first got into comics - but I haven’t touched them in nearly 10 years. Just sort of assumed I would loaning books to my friends more often. Dropped them off at an LCS this weekend, next reader is going to love them 💛

7 reasons why The Thing (1982) is a Christmas film: 1) snow 2) bearded men concealing surprises 3) compulsory party games 4) introverts shunning group activities 5) digestive issues 6) revellers bursting open to reveal partially assimilated canine lifeforms 7) knitwear

Idk if follow Friday is a bluesky thing but Matt is a good investment: ☑️ dad jokes ☑️ environmentalism ☑️ music & movie reviews ☑️ feminism & support for SA survivors ☑️ cat photos

Astonishing X-Men Whedon / Cassaday / Martin / Eliopoulos Started a reread this summer when Cassaday passed. Finally done after months dragging the trades around “just in case” I had time to read, says something about the pacing 🙃 1/3

Really not looking forward to living in the worst parts of a william gibson novel because of all the people who misunderstood the point of william gibson's novels

I’m not likely to post a lot of photos here, but this is the lowest effort way to introduce myself
