Good morning! It’s a perfect day to realize that the politics you’re used to are gone and never coming back so you can either think about what you want the future to look like and try to build toward that or keep trying to wishcast the country back to 1998 and be part of the problem.

old man yells at TV

Goldman: "Think about whether any of us want to vote a certain way but bc we fear for our personal safety, we decide to vote differently. We are no longer representing our constituents. We are representing something else more like the bully threatening us. That is more like Vladimir Putin operates"

I’m sure the young guys who’ve been told the world owes them an easy life will jump at the chance to work a twelve hour shift at a blast furnace

“Lives Are in Danger” After a Trump Administration Spreadsheet Leak, Sources Say Trump’s State Department was supposed to keep sensitive information about foreign grants private, despite Musk’s meddling. It all leaked.

WATCH: Project 2025 warned against using apps like SIGNAL to conduct official business👇🏽 Translation: They knew it was illegal and did it anyway - to keep it hidden from records requests. SIGNAL itself is an underdiscussed part of this scandal. #HegsethGate #WaltzGate

Cross: No, of course the doj is not going to investigate this. Pam Bondi is too interested in what congresswoman Jasmine Crockett is saying about Elon Musk

Trump is going to create chaos for borrowers & students by breaking government like an angry toddler. This is a clear violation of education & appropriations law. To say nothing of his plans to cut SBA staff by over 40% while asking them to now manage ALL federal student loans.

🚨 Trump just illegally fired the two democratic FTC commissioners… www.msn.com/en-us/news/u...

It seems like when you write a decision giving the President king-like powers, you shouldn't be indignant when he acts like a king.

here's video of AG Pam Bondi claiming on Fox last night that the Trump administration "absolutely" will keep doing deportation flights even in the face of court orders telling them to stop

Canada is home to world-class scientists and researchers. We have a unique opportunity to recruit top US talent amid their recent major research cuts. What's our plan? 🇨🇦 🇨🇦 🇨🇦

Seeing folks on the other site claim that Alien Enemy Act removals are not reviewable by courts. The statute explicitly requires "a full examination and hearing," and there are literally *dozens* of reported cases from the War of 1812, World War I, and World War II: law.lclark.edu/live/files/9...

Suozzi on Fox on DOGE: "What we're seeing from DOGE is a lot of it has just been reckless. Why do you want to eliminate people who work to oversee the nuclear stockpile? Why do you want to get rid of people who oversee the avian flu? Why do you want to get rid of ppl who oversee a measles outbreak?"

“The implications of the government’s position are staggering,” the lawyers wrote. “If the president can designate any group as enemy aliens under the act, and that designation is unreviewable, then there is no limit on who can be sent to a Salvadoran prison, or any limit on how long.”

One of the things Trumpism does is open the door for unintended consequences

Exclusive: Some US government workers with top security clearances fired in mass layoffs overseen by Elon Musk in recent weeks were not given standard exit briefings and advised on what to do if approached by foreign adversaries, four sources told Reuters reut.rs/4h2A55r

It’s been six days since Chief Justice Roberts’s “administrative” stay in the foreign aid cases. That almost certainly means (1) someone’s dissenting; (2) the Court is trying to reach a compromise; or (3) both. Hard to be sure which it is, but the continuing pause is itself producing plenty of harm.

Hi — quick question: How is this legal? www.wired.com/story/people...

China said it would develop a package of major projects to tackle climate change as it moves to bring its carbon dioxide emissions to a peak before 2030 and become carbon neutral by 2060 reut.rs/4inJRQp

MEUSER: You've got Trudeau saying how the president is making a dumb move. That's bad diplomacy. SANCHEZ: I'm not sure how it's good diplomacy to say that a neighboring country should be the 51st state and that you're gonna impose economic hardship to achieve that goal.

Trump thinks vegan is pronounced VAY-gun and Uganda OOO-ganda The list Trump is giving of supposed wasteful spending that is actually just spending Musk did not understand in the first three seconds he looked at it is actually only revealing that Trump does not know how to pronounce most words

Former 🇺🇸 ambassador to Russia 👇🏽

Trump again confirms that DOGE is "headed" by Elon Musk, which undermines the administration's position in a few of its court cases against DOGE's effort to access agency systems.

The speech has been interrupted with so much booing that Trump had to stop and Johnson had to call for order Johnson is threatening to have people arrested or physically removed from the room I am not making this up, this is serious now

Dem Congressman Al Green being removed from the chamber by the sergeant at arms on Speaker Johnson's instruction. Wow.

"We have accomplished more in 43 days" than other administrations in 8 years, and he's right. in the sense, that they have done more damage, harmed more poor kids abroad, undermined more laws, fired more civil servants including veterans etc etc

With Elon Musk and some congressional Republicans calling for the impeachment of judges because … they ruled against the Trump administration, today’s “One First” looks at the history of federal judicial impeachments—and why their rarity has been a good thing: www.stevevladeck.com/p/128-impeac...

JD Vance claims that efforts to suppress misinformation and hate speech "are going to destroy Western Civilization. They're gonna destroy Europe, and they would destroy the United States of America if we allowed them to fester. Thank God we have a president now who believes in free speech."
