Oh.

THE INDEPENDENT: Labour vows to dismantle Brexit trade barriers as staggering £37bn loss leaves UK businesses reeling, igniting calls for renewed ties with the EU. - by Kate Devlin

If you oppose NHS privatisation, please could you repost this? I’m fed up of being told that we’re ‘radical’ - most people oppose NHS privatisation! Let’s send a message to those destroying the NHS! 🚨💙

My latest article 'Here's what's really happening behind that 'special relationship' is up on Substack, please subscribe and where possible take out a paid subscription. Or drop a tip in my online Ko-Fi jar here. ko-fi.com/europeanpowell Substack is where it's at! open.substack.com/pub/european...

In case you’re not sure why the NHS isn’t working any more, it’s because the service is being slowly dismantled by politicians who are turning it into a cash cow for private companies, starving it of resource so it doesn’t work properly, and enabling the private sector to expand rapidly 🚨

The supervised toothbrushing scheme at school is fine. But the real problem is 50+% of people don't have access to an NHS dentist and Private dentists are charging 5-10x more. Everyone needs to go to the dentist, it doesn't matter how well you brush your teeth.

🔴Keir Starmer and the Trump Appeasers Why those in Downing Street deluding themselves that Britain can somehow flatter Donald Trump into allying with our interests need to wake up, and fast www.adambienkov.co.uk/p/keir-starm...

The irony of the richest man in the world almost single-handedly destroying an agency designed to help the world’s poor, so that the U.S. federal budget has more room for another giant tax cut for the richest man in the world and his pals, should not be lost on anyone. [Cartoon by Mike Luckovich]

Ex-Reform UK employees issue claims for alleged unpaid wages. Employees claim they were summarily dismissed after the UK general election without payment for several months of work. Reform MPs voted against Labour's modest Bill on workers' rights. Be careful what you wish for. archive.ph/4O17Y

If Brexit had never happened… …we’d be much wealthier, with more investment in public services, better trade - and with our parliament & govt having spent the last decade doing far more productive things. 🇬🇧🇪🇺🇬🇧🇪🇺🇬🇧🇪🇺🇬🇧🇪🇺

Labour's deregulatory race to the bottom will reconfigure the UK's economy as something for the asset-classes to extract and exploit for decades to come.

In the 1980's Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher allowed the richest to buy all our Public Resources, then the billionaires used all the money stolen from you to buy the Government. That is how we got to the hell we have now.

Personally I think the UK billionaires who are making £2m a day each, paying only 11% tax, less than a person on the minimum wage, and costing the same as 60,000 people on benefits each. Are the ones taking the mickey.

Brexit making the headlines.

No growth and less trade: Five yeas later, Brexit is a ‘flop’ for London Promises remain unfulfilled, and for the time being, we see only the negative effects of choice that reduces productivity by 4 percent and exports by 15 percent www.eunews.it/en/2025/02/0...

Tesla earned $2.3 billion in the United States in 2024. You'd think it paid a lot in taxes, right? Well it paid precisely $0 in federal income taxes last year. You want waste and fraud? Look at what some big corporations and the rich are getting away with.

In 1968 Finland banned for profit education, the few private schools that exist in Finland have to reinvest any profit they make or pay it back to parents. It has been in the Top 3 in education for the last 20 years. There should be no profit in education or healthcare.

The Papua New Guinea Courier is in rare form.

Special Economic Zones (SEZs) are designed to promote Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) in designated areas. FDI is an illusory ploy to sell off vast swathes of UK territory to foreign capital. Almost all UK industry is owned by the US. assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/u...

After 14 yrs of Tory neglect patients in England hospitals dying in corridors, pregnant women miscarrying in side rooms. Cupboards, car parks, bathrooms used as makeshift areas for patients All to fund tax cuts for corporations & the rich and facilitate privatisation. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Pity Farage wasn’t asked about this - he should be forced to own it @bbclaurak.bsky.social @theneweuropean.bsky.social

Reminder - All 12 Freeports are housed in much larger special economic zones (SEZs) of which there are 74 in total. Thread

The damning statistics that reveal the true cost of Brexit, five years on www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...

Why are we continuing with Brexit?

Hourly Christmas Day Rates £17.56 - Doctor (F1, newly qualified) £37.76 - Physician Associate (Band 7, newly qualified) How much longer will Labour blame the Conservatives for the mess they inherited before they take action and end the scandal of PAs?

Viscount Rothermere and Richard Desmond are responsible for stoking division in the UK and must he held to account. Re-post if you agree.

If you care about the future of the NHS & you see this on Boxing Day, please could you share this? If we want privatisation to be removed from the NHS, NHS campaigners like me have a *lot* of work to do next year and…I’d just like to see if people care enough about this for our campaigning to work…

Should billionaires and corporations be banned from buying political parties in the UK? Like if yes. RP if it's HELL YES.

£100m spent in England on failed efforts to block children’s Send support

“All donations that originate from abroad, no matter who is the final donor, should be banned. Only UK citizens should be allowed to donate to British political organisations. This would, by necessity mean no donations from private companies; PLCs, LTDs, whatever.”

Alan Bennett's diary, 15th December 2020.

One day humanity will laugh at the fact that society ever punished individuals who murder one person, more harshly than we punish CEOs and politicians whose policies kill thousands.

“The economic cost of Brexit, reliably estimated at around 5% of GDP and with a total loss to government coffers by 2035 of over £300bn, is unlikely to be offset by attempting to ‘make Brexit work’ – a slogan which rather confirms that it hasn’t” westenglandbylines.co.uk/news/brexit/...

CPTPP membership is going to be so “amazing” that Rishi Sunak’s government predicted it would grow the economy by a tiny 0.08% (it later emerged that even that may be an overestimate) and that was after 15 years of membership! Contrast 4% loss of GDP due to Brexit youtu.be/FR4m8rop98E?...

The story behind this picture. This guy got bitten by a Rattlesnake it cost him £153k to save his life. They charged him $83,341.25 for antivenom that cost them $2,500. That is private healthcare and there was nothing he could do except pay.

Jeremy Corbyn is suing Nigel Farage. RP if you can’t wait to see Nigel Farage bankrupt

Leaving the ECHR would allow the State Pension, the Minimum Wage, Sick Pay, Maternity Pay, Paid Holiday and working hour limits to all be abolished. They would make hundreds of billions from this. That is what they want.

The USA spends $4tn on Healthcare. The Health Insurance companies made $1.39tn in profit last year. That is 35% of your Health Insurance payments poured straight into their pockets.

Thames Water customers risk paying £263 a year extra to rescue firm. Serial offender, dumped sewage for decades, neglected investment, borrowed to pay dividends. Now wants customers to bail it out. They will own nothing. Let it go bust. Nationalise at nominal cost www.mirror.co.uk/money/thames...

"analysis of Thames Water’s accounts shows that there has never been a year since privatisation when shareholders contributed more cash than they took out."

Starmer will be spitting feathers over this. The ravages of Brexit disease upon UK infrastructure will continue. No amount of glossy brochures about growth, innovation, and prosperity will solve things unless the UK ditches its 86 deregulated free zones and rejoins the EU

Cost for a heart transplant in the USA. When private Healthcare comes to the UK, are you going bankrupt? Or are you dying?

Left: Nigel Farage repeatedly heckles Alastair Campbell with 'the war is over' referring to Brexit #BBCQT Right: Nigel Farage admits that Brexit has failed

Brexit thread (from 2020) UK: We don't like our trade deal EU: Why not? UK: We only get 95% of what we want EU: It only gives us 95% too. That's how negotiating goes UK: We want a new deal that gives us everything we can think of EU: But you signed a deal UK: We don't care, we hate you 1/21

Why is the government not capable wiping the floor with Nigel Farage every single day like this? Alastair Campbell effortlessly destroys him over his Brexit legacy which by almost every economic and financial measure has been disastrous for the country

This will (hopefully) never cease to be staggering to everyone else in the world.
