Honestly, I feel like this applies to much of humanity in general. I see across all political persuasions that many people are only prioritizing themselves and not thinking about how to be in community.

every single public facing person in this administration is just a different variation on baghdad bob

I don’t know why I love this so much. But I do. I want a Colossal Woolly Mouse. www.nature.com/articles/d41...

“It is, or at least it should be, a damp stain on our national conscience, and your average outraged Canadian is responding rationally. If anything, it’s the American public that should be taking Trump’s depravity more seriously. We allowed this to happen.”

I post one gym pic with an arm flex. Post about men’s confused and harmful reactions to visibility muscular / athletic women. Now my mentions are in meltdown about trans women in sports. Deflecting from the actual issue - men’s insecurities and urge to control what women should be or look like.

DEI is mission critical in church. Our mission is to care for the stranger. Our mission is to love one another. Our mission is dependent on treating people how THEY need to be treated. So we need to learn. My experience has been that when all are included things are better.

None of us are safe if some are being targeted. Sending love and hope to all who are justifiably afraid right now. Thinking especially of two black clergy women I met at a conference last year. That they can simply be.

For all the rhetoric about anti trans policies being about “keeping women and girls safe” there is more than enough evidence that they increase risk of harassment, assault, and more. We are all safer when we care about everyone rather than discrimination against anyone.

Institutions, Government, International Order. The entire world is being remade. What future do you hope for.

I need to emphasize that CW

Quick little health-related thread: There are measles outbreaks happening in the US & Canada because of pockets of very low vaccination rates. I wondered if maybe I might need an update to my vaccines. I got them in the usual way as a kid, but sometimes immunity doesn’t last. So I asked my doctor.

There are people who only exist in the public consciousness because they've learned to get attention for having horrible takes (noahpinion etc). It's important to tune them out and not platform them. The exceptions being when they are so big it won't make a difference & ignoring leads to more harm.

The representatives also cite their ongoing relationships with people in the legislature. The importance of simply being with people can never be underestimated. Well done.

This is deeply unserious and dangerous. Platforming bad actors is so problematic. I await future episodes featuring Ben Shapiro on marriage, Nick Fuentes on religious freedom, and Alex Jones on the best brand of sea moss to buy.

It makes me happy when I see people posting negative things about someone I have already blocked.

🔥 Rep. Al Green is not new to standing up

Today is Ash Wednesday. A day of reflection. It is also the first day of me giving up complaining. This is a hard time of year for me. And I am feeling very negative. So I am trying to change my script. Tonight’s foggy drive home was mysterious and beautiful.

Ok. So it wasn’t that DEI was wasteful of time and resources. It was that they didn’t have the correct curriculum. Heartbreaking and enraging. Human and civil rights are being vanished right in front of us.

Maybe it was a real goofy idea to dismantle entire DEI programs over the threat of pulling federal funding considering he’s going to just keep coming up with other reasons.

This is so good. The videos are mesmeric. Great research from @matteosanton.bsky.social. 🦑🌎🧪🦀

This is an amazing story about an incredibly generous man. You absolutely need to read this.

Accountability over hero worship every time.

This winter has been hard, the political news is worse. I feel a need to steep my spiritual life in hope and positive action. Therefore I am giving up complaining for Lent. Since I do that a bit on social media I will be taking a bit of a break. Sending love and strength to all who need it.

An unending irritation I have with social media is my lack of patience for long or nuanced explanations. 😥 So I will just say this as a reminder… the same analysis you bring to feminism is applicable to other things. Who is in control of the narrative? Who is being hurt? Who is held up? Watch this.

We’re going to end up with nukes and a republic and down a national hockey hero out of this mess.

I’m going to be angry for a very long time about how this time in history made it feel like being a good person was somehow political

We’re in this mess in large part bc the average American is uninformed about fundamentals of civics, history, basic biology, economics, etc, and media and the internet are not meeting the moment. Is anyone organizing teach-ins or similar for the general public, whether irl or online?

I listen to the Focus Group podcast. People literally do not know. Also they get their news from TikTok. If you are talking to people please tell them things you know from reliable sources. We have a very severe reality problem.

I don’t see any explanation from Jeffrey for why anyone still subscribed to the NYT should not cancel their subscription due to another horrendous, callous act of getting in another kick at 2.3 trans Americans when the US state is criminalising their existence. Do you?

The reason this is bad/can not be nuanced or explained away is that the NYT looked at people losing their human rights, health care, & jobs and felt that this was more positive than negative and of little consequence. Even if it was “just a few columnists” and they explained in more detail below.

Also what works for you may not work for others. So be you. Rely on your gifts. Be brave and courageous. Be patient and kind. Be outraged by injustice. Weep. Laugh. Know that you are loved and it is your blessing to love others. The world is not ok. We are all in this. What’s your part?

None of us can be sure what will “work.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never “sure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.

A good word from the good Lorde.

In case anyone missed it, yesterday’s events ended NATO, most international agreements with the US as a foundational member, probably the UN, and nuclear non proliferation.

“If Roosevelt had told Churchill to sue for peace on any terms with Adolf Hitler and to fork over Britain’s coal reserves to the United States in exchange for no American security guarantees, it might have approximated what Trump did to Zelensky.” www.nytimes.com/2025/02/28/o...

This nation’s pets are carrying such a heavy load right now

I just can’t get over how much it feels like everyone’s holding their breath like it’s two or three days before the entire world shut down from Covid except now it’s global fascism and a world war.

Honestly @roywoodjr.bsky.social nails it almost every time. Best news follow. Also a sandwich expert.

Per Dr Atul Gawande, ex USAID: “All malaria supplies protecting 53 million people, mostly children, including bed nets, diagnostics, preventive drugs, and treatments – terminated.” There are no words that sufficiently describe this level of cruelty and sadism.
