I love how a supposed Canadian company is on that list.

Ahhh, I understand now. Not sure how realistic what you want is. Certainly something that won’t come around within our lifetimes without a major war. I will say the concept of no hierarchy is naive. There will always be a hierarchy because someone will always be in charge, even in a perfect world.

So no one else understands global economies except the Americans. Got it. I mean it’s not like I referenced a Canadian politician who’s the head of political party making the point or anything, or that other countries have actually implemented a net wealth tax.

There are plenty of shitty business owners who make less than $200k a year who’d pay their people $5/hr if they legally could. Those are a bigger problem in my book than someone who makes more than $1M but pays fairly and charges correctly and just has a great product.

Nope, uplifting the poor. The fact that it will take from the rich is a side point, not the goal. If someone makes a billion ethically (not common, but it does happen), by paying their people well and sell their product for a fair price then I don’t actually care about their net worth.
comment in response to post
Yeah, but the US is not the whole world, and not all Billionaires are American. There are plenty of non billionaires who cause the same problems at a smaller scale which would not be fixed. Also, both Jagmeet Singh in Canada and AOC have suggested net wealth taxation so not a con talking point.

I’m sorry but how does taking billions from the rich help people? The guy making $10 still makes $10. If we raise his wage to $20 and prevent the company from passing that to the customer, then the billionaire will have less and the people will have more.
comment in response to post
That’s why we need to increase minimum wage and prevent the companies from raising prices in response. Taking money direct from billionaires does not put that money in people’s hands. The whole point of what I’m saving is to remove disadvantage.
comment in response to post
It’s not. Taking billions from Bezos helps no one. Raising people wages and preventing the companies from passing those costs to consumers with threats of huge penalties helps everyone. Helping should be the goal, not hurting someone even if the impact to the rich is the same.
comment in response to post
We shouldn’t be looking at taking from the rich. We should be looking at helping the people. Raise minimum wage, heavily tax profits over a certain % to reduce inflation and make those taxes unavoidable to fund social programs like education. Hit the businesses, not the people themselves.

Good riddance. Their CEO’s anti Canadian remarks as of late make it clear where they would rather be. I am not anti US, but any threat to our sovereignty should resound in a firm no, not a “maybe we should look into that”. I hope he finds happiness in the move but our country is not for sale.

I’m not sure the blackout will have an impact, but other countries who want to peacefully protest should take a page from Canadians and shift their spending away from American products. That will have a much bigger impact because it’s more permanent. Buy Canadian is a huge movement right now.

No, that means for the county, not a random anybody. As for the second half, if you invade a county to “protect” them, you’re still invading no matter your intentions. You need permission. I just don’t know if they have to ask or if you can offer, but just going and helping is not acceptable.
comment in response to post
I could be wrong on this, but I thought I read that they had to ask for help, which other than weapons and funding they did not. Same reason why King Charles isn’t saying boo on our situation, we have to formally ask before he can intervene.

It would be less, but Alberta….. that billboard……😡

As Canadian’s, doing something at this juncture would be very foolhardy. If we were to send troops to help, then we would weaken our own defences at a time we can not afford to. If we go, they will take advantage. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to help at the moment.

Putting out for Putin & Trump Poilievre does like his slogans, so this is one for him.

I’d rather carbon tax Carney than Putting out for Putin & Trump Poilievre.

And so begins the transfer of military power. I hope the Canadian government and military is paying close attention to this. It will likely affect ongoing joint operations. So far it’s been business as usual on that end according to our generals. This may change that.

Sorry blue states, while we would love to have you, you need to stay where you are. If we take you there’s less people who help with the balance. That’ll just make it worse for everyone. Temporary asylum would be ok though.

I disagree. Attacking would be foolish. Every war they’ve had in the last 200 years has been thousands of miles away, not next door. It would be the first where normal US citizens would be at risk. I don’t think they want that anymore than we do.

I’m with you on that front. Need to find some time to finish my Lib volunteer training. I never had the desire to volunteer before, but some stuff is too important to leave to chance.

So get paid less and have someone “own” the research instead of it being available? Sounds like terrible idea to me. And don’t say the research wouldn’t be owned. We all know that’s a lie.

I paid less for Ozzfest for 2 people than they wanted for 1 Metallica ticket the last time they were in town, and the Ozzfest tickets included back stage. Wanted to meet Zakk Wylde. Unfortunately did not happen. I did get to meet Dimebag that year, so still a good year.

We Canadians will come out this stronger. If his goal was to unite Canada in a way in a way we have not seen in my life, mission success. I had never seen so many Canadian flags in Quebec as I did in Feb.

Because it’s a dangerous thought pattern. Better to assume 4D chess and be wrong than assume the other way any find out that 4D chess is the game and you’ve already lost. Never underestimate anyone.

I can not fathom what causes one person to look at another person and think “You are less than me”. Even the other side I don’t think of as less. Doesn’t mean I condone or accept their crap. But less never made any sense.

I didn’t think they were even trying to hide it. There’s a lot people who are not right in the head.

This is excellent news for the country. Hopefully it can be expanded to include all the major cities once successful. Huge step in the right direction.

Oh that’s easy. Ending the war doesn’t imply that the Ukraine makes it or is free. Total annihilation is also the end of a war.

Since Canada and Greenland won’t be going, they can be 51 if they want. Ridiculous.

They need an app that tracks if you’re buying goods from a company that dropped DEI. We Canadians have a Buy Canadian app which will tell us if what we’re buying is truly Canadian. There are very few things my wife and I have found that does not have an alternative.

Given his executive order today, that may not be as cut and dry as it sounds.

Holy crap that’s terrifying. If he gets away with that, he basically has carte blanche.

“it took Trump to make us great again since the liberals cause all the problems”. Yeah…..that’s the guy we want between us and annexation. Why not just be honest and say you’ll give the country to Trump?

This is something we need to prevent. Every Canadian needs to go vote so that we don’t end up with someone who aligns with hateful ideals.
