He/him. Don't obey in advance. Don't obey when ordered. Don't obey when threatened. Don't obey.

There's also the important corollary that sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. Laundering malice through ignorance or complexity or rule-making or bureaucracy or what-have-you is a very old trick by now. At the end of the day results matter.

I woke up yesterday to learn that PBS had scrubbed my work, the PBS Independent Lens Map of Gender Diverse Cultures, from their website, without warning. These folks are throwing us under the bus so fast, they're gonna throw out their backs doing it. badlylickedbear.substack.com/p/when-the-n...

Irony poisoning is deadly, you have to be *for* something, not just against (or cynical of) everything, that road leads to pure, concentrated misanthropy.

The other thing about measles is it *wrecks* your immune system. Producing a weeks long period of immune suppression while also obliterating some of your previously acquired immunities (from infections or vaccinations). This is why measles vaccination has an outsized impact on under 5 mortality.

A lot of it was just that everyone smoked like a chimney so nobody could taste a damned thing.

Or Nixon. We've already had practice at this and we fucked it up this time.

Aside from the "Cold Civil War" aspect, there is the common mistake of those who believe themselves smart and powerful who think "I can ride this tiger". They think "it's momentarily advantageous to point the car toward the cliff edge, so why not?" Then the inevitable happens.

The Canadian people are pretty strongly against the idea of becoming part of the US, especially at this moment. That is the only opinion that matters, everything else is moot. Who is served by this kind of outrageous and unhinged commentary? It's shameful.

Someone whose entire job is politics: "guys, I dunno how to do politics, I'm flummoxed. P.S. please send me $27 so that I can continue to do politics, thx."

This is like something you'd expect from a single person futzing around for a few days in Unity or Godot. It's a monument to inefficiency and waste. Meanwhile, government programs that buy food at a discount from US farmers to help prevent hunger overseas are being shuttered.

Journalism is about more than just access, if there is no committment to the truth then it's just PR.

Break the system, run on the system being broken. And rubes fall for it.

They live in fantasy land, anything that punctures the fantasy is denied. Also, they believe in a power hierarchy where higher rungs are less subject to restrictions. Pro-social behavior is seen as a restriction, which is why the same folks hate seatbelts, OSHA, etc.

Speaking as an outsider, the USA is still very recognizable to me. They have simply aligned their domestic policy with their foreign policy.

Both things can be true.
