CBC can buy it's way into the European Broadcasting Union, surely? (This is what the Australians and Israelis have done)

The Ford family at least have the backing of, well, Ford. The Browns don't necessarily have the cash to put in escrow for the guarantees being asked for.

Thanks. The current planned replacement for the Triomphant-class is based on an upgraded M51, while the planned UK Dreadnought-class is based on Trident II. I wonder if something will have to give...

Sorry to jump in, but has anyone looked into whether Ariane M51 missiles could be retrofitted to the UK submarine fleet?

Thanks - see that now. Imagine that it's more collaborative in practice.

You don't have Montgomery as AHC (and he's not really under John Morton).

Is there a difference in vibe/atmosphere between cold weather Super Bowls cities and warm weather ones? Having never been to one I wonder why the league goes to Atlanta (say) twice while Minneapolis only hosts once. (Not a Vikings fan, btw)

"MVP finalist" is the same as "Academy Award Nominee." They are both the same as bronze medals at the Olympics—making the podium is what matters for Goff at this stage.

Charles Harris (recently waived by the Eagles) or Chris Wormley (on Ravens PS)? Possible help with pass rush?

Will this start to be like the Oscars, where just being one of the five "MVP nominees" matters?

(The Liverpool comparison is because the Lions have a bit of a bandwagon feel at the moment—more people supporting under a charismatic leader as the team is good. They were not there during the years of losing.)

It started during the pandemic, of all things. I was starting to get into the Browns (supporting an up-and-comer) until the horrible QB change. That was right as the Lions had their 3-13-1 season, but oddly a sense of optimism...

Why not in the time left? There would be no 16-17 game season debate?

You're right about Jimmy Haslam, but I don't think that Watson will take another snap as Browns QB.
I guess that Cleveland is one of four teams never to have even been to a Super Bowl (with Detroit, Jacksonville & Houston) and I have a soft spot for underdogs.

I'm a Detroit Lions fan (will run through a wall for Dan Campbell) but joining now will have the feel of supporting Liverpool under Klopp - supporting a rising team. If you want a team before they rise perhaps Cleveland?

The challenge in the public sector in recent years is that the only way to get paid more is through career progression, which drives some to do jobs they're not ready for or happy in.

One of the few things I like about Paris is the ability to see your friends relatively easily—you can meet up and get back easily, and your friends aren't far away. Prices like this make that a near impossibility in London.

Surprised not to see anything on energy markets or prices. Will energy in Europe be cheaper?

To Tony's point, what I'd like to understand more is how planning reform and devolution *create* labour demand. This is an empirical question but seems to be a strong implied assumption.

Probably elite "failure" but of a particular kind. The centre of the global economy is moving east and there seems to be a failure to grasp the implications of that, thinking that the UK's current status will persist. The UK's domestic politics isn't focused on this either which doesn't help.
