Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

There have never been kings in America. The monarchy doesn't start now.

Wise man…

If a woman had 13 kids by four different men, used ketamine and spent all her time running a shadow presidency, I’m not sure our society would celebrate her.

we are getting a national version of red state governance, where the people in charge do everything they can to impoverish the state under the view that the more wretched things get, the easier it is for them to stay in power

No one's blaming Democrats for causing this crisis, but yes, many of them are failing to meet this moment. One Democratic senator could bring the chamber to a halt. House Dems can go to fed agencies being gutted by Musk with cameras in tow. Governors can push back. State AGs can bring lawsuits.

Where are the defenders of the US as Elon and nameless private agents infiltrate US agencies, commandeer US servers, steal US data, seize US money, march US officials from US buildings? Who sallies forth from the FBI? The CIA? Congress? DoD? The media? This is a coup—and America appears defenseless.

When I was a Hill staffer in 2009, a Dem trifecta was trying to pass universal healthcare. In response, Senate GOP released a memo detailing all of the tactics they in the minority could use to delay the effort as much as possible. I'm recirculating that 2009 GOP memo here. Take inspiration from it.

The digital infrastructure of the United States Government is both critical and fragile. Many of us who work in digital government have been trying to figure out what’s going on as norms and protocols are being subverted — Thread on some of what we know so far:

It would be nice to see mainstream media acknowledge that every alarmist in their ranks about Trump and his henchmen has been correct, and every single "Let's all calm down" guy--a posture of blasé detachment that is consistently over-rewarded in legacy media--has called it wrong from day one.

Hey remember when George Lucas was like “hurr durr Trade Wars” and we were like that’s so silly and he was like no wait that’s how Emperor Palpatine comes to power and we were like you are obviously dumb Jorge.

If you are a leader who previously boasted about your pro-democracy positions, you have a greater obligation. If you feel obliged to obey Trump, spare us your justifications. Just tell us you are too scared to fight. If you feel the need to bow down, let someone with more courage take your spot.

You know, if a small percentage of the US Electorate were just fine with a woman President, I'd be sitting here on a Saturday morning, enjoying my coffee, and not Doom Scrolling wondering what on earth is going on

Good Morning! Buenos Dias!

February 3rd! #oklahoma #okiemix #rally

Yes totally cool that a 19-year-old who called his deleted LinkedIn "Big Balls," where he lists his experience working as a camp counselor can access the entire US federal payment system without anyone looking into his background, for instance, his Russian national close relatives or anything else

I don’t want to be an alarmist but this is insanely dangerous. Elon Musk, an unelected billionaire with no oversight, has gained access to the federal government’s payment system And all of our data. What is he planning to do with it?

The first Senators to actually do anything about the Trump admin

the point is not that it's fast -- the point it that it's systematic. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/01/o...

This should be 25th amendment level conduct. The president ordered water to be released from a random dam in California nowhere near the wildfires and then claimed it would help. That’s literally Mad King behavior.

Judging by names alone... Tik...Tok (a threat) Instagram (infomercial) Facebook (horror franchise) X (crypto scam) Bluesky (antidepressant)

He is evil. As soon as you accept that, every last bit of it makes sense.

"A letter submitted to the Senate sent by 'physicians' in support of Kennedy's nomination includes names of doctors who have had their licenses revoked, suspended or faced other discipline, the AP has found..." www.huffpost.com/entry/rfk-jr...

See it's funny, because there probably was a time in U.S. history when an unelected plutocrat gaining illicit access to government systems would have resulted in him being dragged out of whatever government building he was in at the moment by his balls by armed government agents within +/- 3 minutes

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world. Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

I kept this screenshot assuming someday we might be asked to forget.

My latest article explores how Russia’s decades-long information warfare has destabilized American democracy, paving the way for Trump’s return to power.

She closed the case so not clear what her authority is. Moreover, the case is on appeal. And finally one wd think she wd have asked to see the report before issuing her erroneous injunction.

And it was obvious, 48 years later, that not enough people watched it.
