It's not just him. Plenty of people out there will just say a bunch of words that are related to the topic at hand, instead of actually coming up with a coherent thought that makes sense and advances the discussion in a meaningful way.

This, 100%. It's kind of hard to know in advance whether to cheap out or not, though. What are your thoughts on how to decide which route to take?

I thought the US had some general missile defense systems in Alaska and in California, and besides that, it relies on strategic deterrence (e.g. having nuclear armed submarines around the world). Is that accurate/sufficient in your opinion?

Pronounced like "Janhk"? Or "Yonkh"?

Jack, because my legal name is John, and it's goddamn annoying to deal with. My display name at work is John, but if I introduce myself as Jack, and people go looking for me later, they might not be able to find me.

With this and Retro AIM Sever, we'll be back in the good old days of the internet. We just need someone to host one main server for everyone to use. github.com/mk6i/retro-a...

Here's a fun neocities page where someone explores the possible origins of the 88x31 buttons. These INTRIGUE me - could work well as a blogroll in a sidebar widget on a Wordpress blog, too! neonaut.neocities.org/cyber/88x31

Websites right now are so damn BORING. If we brought back blogging and cool links pages and webrings... if we actually updated our own blogs and linked to each other's posts in conversation... we'd have COOL STUFF to read ALL THE TIME that did not rely on Twitter/Meta censorship and bullshit.

There was a massive chunk of wet lint stuck in the condensation tank, causing terrible drying performance. Seems to be much better now. 😊

Gathering data with ESP32 + SCD41, scraping with Prometheus and using Grafana to show it in nice graphical format. Also capturing temp and humidity data cuz the sensor does that too, so why not?

I can't see the advantage of satellite-based storage either. Is there a problem with storing data on Earth that this would alleviate?

I cleaned it up myself after it was still there post-grocery store trip. If you want to live in a dog crap-free environment, sometimes you have to clean some dog crap, apparently.

There is one woman in our building who is quite old, lives alone with her dog. Possible it was her, and I don't think she can bend down to pick it up. But it wasn't in a place that she would normally go. So I have to assume an able-bodied person let their dog pinch one off inside and just left it

It's like the thing they do with cooking spray, where they make the serving size astronomically small so they can say it's 0 calories, when in reality it's all fat.

Isn't it the same for brown as well?

I can't remember how it was presented when I was a kid, but I could never remember the formula until a few months ago, when I watched a few videos showing the geometric intuition behind completing the square, and deriving the formula.
