This may seem like a weird suggestion considering everything going on but have you ever heard of Dungeon Crawler Carl? It's a book series by Matt Dinniman. What's going on in the actual story is technically horror but I have never laughed more and felt better about the human spirit than this series

When Nintendo did the promotion where you got Dragon Warrior 1 when you subscribed to Nintendo Power. Brilliant idea and began my love of JRPGs.
